Green Lantern Corps #1
"Triumph of the Will"
Writer: Peter Tomasi
Artist: Fernando Pasarin
Inker: Scott Hanna
The Story:
First things first, don't let the cover fool you as this issue is all about Guy Gardner and John Stewart. We see both of them on Earth trying to fit in with normal jobs and both are having extremely difficult times adjusting. Guy is attempting to apply for a job as a high school football coach but the school board official says it's way too dangerous to have a Green Lantern moonlighting at a school. I can't say I disagree with that logic.
Meanwhile, we see John Stewart at a construction site and he's attempting to convince some of the building officials that some added structural reinforcements will come in handy if theres a big battle nearby. The officials aren't buying into this due to the added costs and the fact that the building is up to code. John leaves the site very frustrated and meets up with Guy.
They both discuss their problems fitting in on Earth and both admit to a feeling of relief when they're called into duty. Our two Lanterns are called back to Oa to deal with a new threat. An unknown assailant (or assailants) are murdering Green Lanterns in space sector 3599. They also leave the Lanterns Corp a calling card in the form of an entire murdered planet and two more dead Lanterns.

The Art:
This book is a pleasure to see with Pasarin's art and Hanna's ink duties. It's some of the best art I've seen so far in the reboot and that includes Jim Lee's Justice League.
4.5/5
Final Thoughts:
I've never been a big fan of Tomasi. I didn't like his Outsiders run and he hasn't done a whole lot to impress me. On the plus side this was pretty interesting by kicking off the series with a mystery type story. I also like his take on super heroes not being able to just turn off their rings and go back to normal lives at the drop of a hat.The art is outstanding and I'm definitely going to get issue #2.
