The Story:
Zack Overkill is not your run of the mill corporate office drone. He may be a lowly mail clerk in an office but his secret former life comes back to haunt him. Zack is in the Witness Protection Program and he isn't a bank robber, money launderer or computer hacker. He's a former super villain. He and his brother Xander worked for a criminal known as the Black Death. After his brother was killed, his death was faked and he entered the Witness Protection Program.
Now working for a huge corporation as the mail clerk he's become as bored as humanely possible. Forced to take drugs from the government to suppress his super human powers, he turns to other recreational drugs to pass the time. After seeing the results of a huge battle downtown, (the local authorities tried to play it off as a gas main explosion) he realizes it was a clash between superhumans. Infuriated, he rips the door off his car and realizes the recreational drugs he's been taking are slowly allowing him to regain his powers.
What follows is Zack's run from the so called good guys in the SOS and he's also tracked down by operatives working for the Black Death. With help from some unexpected allies he finds out dark secrets about his past and is targeted by both sides of the law.

The Art:
Sean Phillips definitely has his own Noir/pulp style and it works well with the story.

Overall:
This is an interesting story from Brubaker. Icon Comics is a creator owned imprint of Marvel and he definitely goes outside the box in this one. There's plenty of violence, profanity and intrigue to go around.
