Features: Steve Rogers, Black Widow, Moon Knight & Beast Features: Steve Rogers, Sharon Carter, War Machine & Valkyrie Features: Steve Rogers, Sharon Carter & Shang-Chi Features: Steve Rogers, Moon Knight, Black Widow & Sharon Carter Writer: Warren Ellis Artists: Jamie McKelvie & Matthew Wilson (Issue #16) Kev Walker & Frank Martin (Issue #17) David Aja (Issue #18) Michael Lark & Stefano Gaudiano (Issue #19) The Story: These issues are tied together with one goal in mind. Different combinations of the Secret Avengers are teaming up to take down Shadow Council operations all over the world. We see team members Steve Rogers, Sharon Carter, Beast, Moon Knight, Shang Chi, War Machine & Valkyrie in various missions facing down multiple threats. Below Cincinnati the team discovers an entire hidden city controlled by the Shadow Council and must shut it down, In the former Yugoslavia, they encounter a human smuggling operation. Aboard a space station in the No-Zone Steve teams up with Sharon Carter and Shang Chi to prevent the Shadow Council from mining for transmatter. Finally, the team journeys back to Symarkia where they encounter a drug lord tampering with the powers of ancient dark gods. All of these are a series of one shots but it doesn't make them fun to read. The different teams used for these operations are a ton of fun. There is plenty of action, covert operations and since it's Warren Ellis enough violence and gore to make me a happy reader. I am excited for Rick Remender's Secret Avengers run but I hate to see Warren Ellis leave this book. Grade: 8/10

Secret Avengers #19 was really, really damn good. This is why I am going to miss Ellis. #19 was perfect for what I think a Secret Avengers book should be. This 4 person line up is great too.

I've enjoyed all four of the issues that Ellis has done as well. While I agree that it will be difficult to see him go, I am really excited to see what Rick Remender will bring to this title. I was a little concerned when Brubaker left and they put Nick Spencer on, who I'd never really read much of before. If there are going to be revolving writers, I'd at least like them to be quality. Ellis and Remender both fill that bill.

I may just be a shameless Ellis fanboy but each issue has gotten steadily better.

jake- Nah, it really has. I can't think of a single issue I enjoyed more recently than Secret Avengers #19. It is everything I want out of a Secret Avengers title. Truly a great and title appropriate issue. I wish this is what the ongoing would be like for a while to come, but we'll see what Rick R does.

I'm pumped for the rest of Ellis' work on this series. It is a shame he's only on board for 6 issues.

I bet you Ellis would be good on Heroes For Hire.

He needs a permanent gig with one of the big companies.

You know, I haven't been able to stand Steve Rogers recently, but this is the only title where he is actually a cool character in my book.

I was a little surprised they gave Ellis that much freedom with the character.

I'm glad Ellis sees Steve differently from the rest of the writers right now. Everywhere else Steve has been a "see it one way blind to everything else dumb ass." He's a horrible character like that.

What exactly is this Shadow Council you younguns are talking about? Clandestine organization created by Ed Brubaker. Similar to HYDRA or AIM but more shrouded in mystery at this point.

I guess I'm missing out since I'm not reading Ellis' SA. But that's more so because I'm waiting for the run to end.
