I do not see how venom is more realistic. How does instantly doubling in size (exaggeration) and acquiring many times your original strength and having a healing factor more realistic than a hallucinogen? Aside from the size growth (which in the comics is barely noticeable) then I'd point you to look at what a person on PCP or some other drugs happens. It's a lot more believable to me then a drug that "makes you see you deepest fears" A drug that makes you see the things you fear is not unlike the actual drugs that exist that make you see great pleasures. It just is having a different effect on the brain. With the PCP, damage still happens to the body like normal, you just do not feel it. Plus, there is no healing factor with PCP.

Bane doesn't have a healing factor, he is just immune to pain and strengthened by the drug.

He won't because the serum doesn't give a healing factor. It just makes you immune to pain and stronger/tougher.
Hell, in Knightfall, Azrael tore through him with the mech-bat suit. He was bleeding from everywhere and juicing up to ignore the pain.

Why do people always assume 'healing factor' means Wolverine levels? Why do people always assume I'd assume wolverine level healing factor when speaking of healing factor

Alright guys lol.
I was always under the impression Bane's healing was accelerated at similar levels to Captain America's but I may be wrong.

I was under the same impression after reading bios. Let me grab my knightfall issues to see if the wounds healed (from slashes/projectiles from Azrael). But even if they do vanish, it could be disputed that was just an error in artwork.
I haven't read it in awhile, but do they remark on that when testing the serum on him in prison?

Come to think of it, it demonstrated having healing properties in Secret Six. IIRC, he was in a weakened state after being tortued (the whole brick incident) and was in the vehicle as the Secret Six engaged in combat. He took venom (in the form of a pill, right?) and not only recovered, but broke out of the car LOL

I could have swore you showed us a scan way back in the day where he healed pretty quickly from gunshots. Or maybe I've just been drinking too much.

LOL. Nah, he's "tanked" gunshots in Secret Six but that's just a pain tolerance feat. He was off venom, too.

Haha ok, I'll chalk that one up to too much alcohol. I could have swore it actually showed him completely healed of bullet wounds inflicted on him in an earlier encounter.
Never believe me. I just make up shit.

Recent rewrites and retcons, as well as new versions of venom have altered the effects. The original knightfall version only gave super-strenght and super-stamina plus pain resistance at the expense of common sense.

Regardless neither drug is altogether completely realistic, or completely unrealistic.
Both showing you your deepest fear and giving superhuman strength, stamina, and pain tolerance are impossible.
However there are drugs that numb pain, increase strength, as well as drugs that cause you to see things or hallucinate. Ever heard of a bad trip? Sometimes (albeit rarely) people see terrifying things while on drugs like acid, or other hallucinogens.terrifying things. I don't see it as completely unrealistic at all that someone could develop a kind that only effects the fear producing part of your brain.

Actually, I'm pretty fortunate. The kind of hallucinations I have now and then when I wake up tend to be random symbols or designs, but some people see things that scare the crap out of them (such as spiders and other common fears).

eh, none of the Nolan batman movies have been completely realistic. Just not too unrealistic enough to work for the cool. So I have no trouble accepting the venom serum.
