Discuss the great series.
This may be the only thing by Bendis that I liked.

Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate X-Men were two of my very favorite series until Loeb got his blood-loving paws on the Ult universe.

I didn't like ultimate X-Men, but Ultimate spiderman was really good, I only dropped it along with the rest of the Ultimate U because of Ultimates 3 and Ultimatum
*rants incoherently about how bad those two were*

To be honest, i was never interested in Ultimate spider-man or any Ultimate comics. But seeing how many people say that ult spidey was really good, i might start reading it. Any suggestions from where i should start? =]

But that was a stupid question anyway....so forget it... -___-

I found Ult Spider-Man really good, although I didn't like how some of the villains were done. (Such as GG)
Ult X-Men pissed me off because of what they did to Nightcrawler.

i) Each arc builds up substancially on previous events. There are no real good jumping in points, as a result. ii) The first few arcs are excellent in their own right so it'd be a shame to miss them anyway.
I'm sure you'll love it.

First he's a Weapon X agent... then he's hard-core homophobic... then he abducts Dazzler and tries to make her love him... then he goes partially psychotic and leaves the X-Men to lead the Morlocks... then he's killed by a tidal wave that characters slower than him (Angel for example) survived whereas NC did not. I'm still a bit fan of Ult X-Men (up until Ultimatum) and Ult Nightcrawler, but I have to agree that the writers did their dernest to screw up his character.

I don't even like Spidey comics that much, and I loved Ult Spider-Man That really makes me want to read ult spidey even more...lol I highly recommend it. The age of the character and the more up-to-date background make him an even more relatable character than mainstread Spider-Man, IMO. And there's the fact that the art is rockin' awesome (Mark Bagley is great!)

Some writers seem to belive that if a character has a very strong religious background, they are automatically very judgemental of of everybody else. That really just ticks me off.

Ult spidey is still a teen while 616 has become an adult. 616 was more relatable at his first appearances when he was teen. Not that he isn't relatable now. I have a few ult issues and i love the art. =D

Exactly, it seems to be a new thing too. I mean classic Nightcrawler never judged anyone, nor did Daredevil. It's really sad because as you mentioned besides that Ultimate X-Men was a solid series.

It was great until Bendis ruined Ultimate Venom, and Carnage, and Gwen.

True that. Some characters like Beast and Cyclops were written extremely well in that series, but other characters just got really messed up.
