Just got home from seeing The Amazing Spider-Man and I have to say I thought it was much better than any of the three movies from the Sam Raimi Trilogy. I was really skeptical going in but am very pleasantly surprised with how it turned out. Andrew Garfield blows Tobey Maguire away as Peter Parker. The action sequences were solid, the fights were lengthy and well done and there was a somewhat fresh take on some of the aspects surrounding Spidey's origins. Martin Sheen really impresses as Uncle Ben and Emma Stone was awesome as Gwen Stacey! CGI and special effects were top-notch as well and i enjoyed the first-person perspective with Spidey that we got a few times. The movie might be a little slow in the beginning for some people, you don't see the full costumed Spider-Man until about an hour in, but it didn't detract from the movie for me. I actually appreciate the fact that they did so much character and relationship development. Also I think they did a decent job of setting it up for future installments. Norman Osborne was referenced several times and I could easily seeing that being the focus of ASM 2, although it's unfortunate what that will probably mean for Gwen.
There is also an additional scene a short way in to the credits, but no scene at the very end.
All-in-all I think it's up there with X-Men First Class as one of the best non-Marvel Studios movies based on a Marvel property.

LOL NeXus. I've gotta agree, Lee. I enjoyed it way more than the Raimi movies. I also provided a review in my "movie reviews" thread.

I will admit I liked Spider-Man a bit better in the original series, but Andrew Garfield is a vastly better Parker than Tobey Maguire ever was.
