I think this topic deserves a thread of its own.
Discussion about UFO's, aliens, alien structures, previous encounters with ET's etc.
To start it off, heres something to think about.

I think it's rather egotistical to believe we're the only intelligent life in the massive span of the Universe and the huge amount of time it has existed.

I think it's rather egotistical to believe we're the only intelligent life in the massive span of the Universe and the huge amount of time it has existed. Dolphins and Chimpanzees are said to be not far from our own intellect. What about what was before us, dinosaurs? If you believe in them that is. Some of them were said to have high intellect. Problem solving and such.

Was the if intelligent life can exist here in a variety of shapes, then why not elsewhere?

It saddens me that so many people dont believe in intelligent life outside earth. It might be because there isn't much intelligent life on it.

Hmmm.... I wonder if this is going to be the catalyst for the Evolution vs Religion battle x4,644,334.

Hmmm.... I wonder if this is going to be the catalyst for the Evolution vs Religion battle x4,644,334. It shouldn't. The Vatican came forward and said it's possible for intelligent life to exist elsewhere.

It shouldn't. The Vatican came forward and said it's possible for intelligent life to exist elsewhere. That would matter if Vatican could speak for all of Christianity. Unfortunately, E vs R is here to stay.

People actually think there is no other life out there? One little one dot is our entire solar system. This galaxy will be smaller than a dot on the universe scale.

Unfortunately, E vs R is here to stay. Of course. But on the matter of alien life I think it was a pretty big step for the Vatican to state that. It made a lot of news when they did.

I wonder when the day comes when we finally see another sentient species, will people leave their religions? Or will they be the ones to try and kill them? Personally I'd love to join them and get away from this planet. Experience the stars.

But on the matter of alien life I think it was a pretty big step for the Vatican to state that. It made a lot of news when they did. Well, for all the shit reputation they accumulated over they years, Vatican has generally been pretty progressive towards science. Catholic dogma for example embraces the theory of evolution as something completely in line with its teachings. So, while it is quite an important step, it's a step for Vatican, and they weren't the ones raising hell in the first place.
