Haven't heard much positive. But I haven't heard much either. Enough to get a general idea what it is about and style. But and with the not positive comments, it hasn't tempted me to try it out.

i started with dream hunter and a couple of others when i was in Iraq and had down time.
They had a romantic feel to it but it is actually a sh#$ load better than twilight and damn rivals or exceeds Anne Rice work imo.
Dream Hunter was cool if you want me to tell you a lil about it or give you the general story and spoil it for you i be happy to tell you since i believe in just telling people rather than being tight lipped.

Well, Dream Hunter is about a lessor god who exist in an abstract realm immaterial realm and more like ideas and dreams and a slave race to the older more powerful gods.
when they are born they are killed or put into slavery and beaten and tortured for undefined amount of time since they are abstract it could be for a looooooooong time.
They are beaten so their emotions are removed and left pretty much soulless those that cannot made that way are killed.
well this god started to feel emotions and decided to visit a dark god to help him leave the abstract realm.. the dark god didnt want to and would have killed the lesser god if not for the lesser god having known all his secrets and blackmailed him.. since most gods ignore the lesser gods as if they dont exist since they are pretty much gollums.
the dark god send him into the real world but tried to trick him by having him fall and arrive in the middle of the ocean where he was hoping he be killed as he was mortal.
he was rescued by a passing ship and the dark god told him he only had a few days or weeks of being real other wise he would be returned to the abstract realm as his slave or death or whatever since that was the agreement the lesser god made just to know what it is to live and feel emotions..
it is a pretty cool story he need to find someone who loved him and made him feel real while also exploring human emotions since it was all new to him having to learn how to eat and other human byproducts of being real and alive.
another one was i think was Devil May Cry not sure. that was a good one it was about an immortal who lived as a vampire. In ancient time Artemis would find mortal men who were on the verge of death or living in the gutter offer them a chance of immortality as her servant while giving them a chance to get even with those that screwed them over in life and once done leave it all behind.
One guy was malformed weak and beaten his entire life when Artemis found him near death, she offered him the chance to be strong powerful and immortal as her slave which he took the offer but she did not want to touch him due to all his sores so instead she used a stick and a lil of her magic blood to make him immortal rather than her usual magic brand that she would place on their body with her hand.
the guy become young tall strong and handsome and was allowed to avenge the wrongs in his life and later be a guardian for humanity fighting demons and magical creatures like vampires.
he was bound to Artemis but suffered from psychological issues from his time as a roman peasant which showed up in his modern life. he was ashamed of his face and appearance hid in the dark and was made worse by Artemis letting him believe he was a vampire like all the other immortals she had made.
he was ordered to kill someone irrc which he did not.. which made Artemis angry and send a goddess of justice to judge and kill him... the goddess was able to see into people's souls and Artemis thought she would for sure kill a being who lives to kill..
anywho artemis grows tired of being disobeyed that she sends a death avatar to kill the vampire well this death being was called Thanatos who was also a tormented mortal soul with godly power who went on a rampage and wanted to not just kill the vampire but the goddess.
the story is basically that gods play too much with humans since we find out that Thanatos was put in a void room for millenniums and forgotten by the gods and he too was given a chance to right his wrongs so that he could be an instrument of the gods. the Vampire finds out during the story being on the run and hiding in a cabin that he isnt even a vampire but a true immortal and that Artemis new this all along and allowed him to live as a vampire drinking blood and living in darkness hiding from the sun..
he promises to kill artemis and even manages to defeat the juggernaut like Thanatos since Artemis brands all her creation which is basically an off switch, all except the vampire dude..
Artemis had always kept him on a short leash among all her other creations due to how he was made using god blood which she was afraid he might turn or grow in power or Zeus find out about such an abomination and she be judged since she also had a sex slave vampire god that also shouldnt exist and that she kept hidden from Zeus using her magic.
she loved him since the guy was a mortal atlantean prince so she kept him as an immortal.
the story is pretty cool as the Vampire God stands up for the Vampire and gains his freedom from Artemis and is turned into a full fledge God by the eating of a fruit iirc without the thirst that the true vampire god has to live with.
Acheron the Vampire God was the shizznit he also has his own story. he had become so powerful that he could challenge many of the gods himself and had a dragon tattoo which had the power to kill gods. his tattoo was alive and was actually a female baby dragon which he raised.. the gods had killed the dragons out of fear of them all except her.. she was like tinker bell(emotionally)but was able to shapeshift into various forms and even human.

I read the first few pages of the first book and gave it away. I actually prefer the Stuff by Kim Harrison and Simon Green.
