The director of Iron Man 1 and 2 told Marvel Studios this week he won't be directing Iron Man 3. Vulture (the source) claims an informed source states the director was annoyed with Marvel and their desire to put more Marvel characters into the Iron Man series. Although, the site also claims Favreau's price tag might have been too much for Marvel to shell out. Since last night, Marvel Studios has been searching for a new director to take on the third film, according to Vulture. Iron Man 3 is expected to hit theaters May 3, 2013. So now that Favreau won't be behind the scenes, do you guys think he'll still be in front of the camera as Tony Stark's body guard, Happy Hogan? Or will he get the War Machine treatment and a new actor will fill his role? Also, who would you guys want to see direct Iron Man 3 and why? Speak up! I am indifferent at the development. Marvel can do better, and they could also do a lot worse. It depends on who will replace him, really.

Do you think he'll keep the role as Happy or will someone else take it? I wonder if Iron Man 3 will have the same "feel" as the first two with a different director, though. IMHO Favreau excels when it comes to making light-hearted action/adventure movies, and that's been the general tone of Iron Man so far.

I came to accept the Iron Man films for what they are, but Iron Man as a character has the potential for much superior quality of films.
I find it unlikely that he will retain the part of Happy.

You just expressed my inner desire. Iron Man is also the kind of hero that Nolan could mold well to fit his vision, as opposed to, say, Spider-Man, that is rather incompatible to Nolan's style.

I'll see what I can do about the "In Nolan we trust" though.
