Battle Forum Rules
These are the rules for posting in the battle forum and in creating threads. You must read and abide by these rules. If anyone feels that the rules need expanded or amended, please contact an Administrator or Moderator and we will decide on a proper course of action.
1) No repeat battles - See if the thread you have in mind has been done already please. There is a search function at the top of the site, right next to the home, new topics and help button. It works. For now when searching, drop the 'vs' as the search function does not search words that are less than four characters long. Avoid using the option 'whole phrase' for now.
2) Label battles correctly - Do not put the conditions in the title. Save that for the OP. List only the characters involved in the title. Also make sure your title has correct spelling. No one will be able to find your thread if you say Batmna rather than Batman. Use 'VS' instead of 'V.S.' or 'versus' or any other variation.
3) Links to characters - Provide links that give information on the characters involved. You can use any site you desire. If you are not sure what source to use, Comicvine.com usually has very solid information.
3) Be specific about fights - Location, conditions for victory, equipment, morals etc. All these things make for interesting threads that end up with a lot of discussion. Threads without this information will be assumed to be current version of the character, standard gear (if any), with morals on, in a featureless infinite white room and standing about 5 feet apart like a standard fighting tournament.
4) Make the fights fair - Superman against Xavier without his mental powers is not funny nor is it interesting.
5) Stay on topic - If you are in a battle thread, please do not discuss your bathing habits. No one really cares.
6) CIS, PIS, WIS - PIS is not something we will be using to base our arguments on. It is Plot Induced Stupidity which means some outside influence that is normally not available gave a character a win. CIS however is something that is used all the time and cannot be turned off. CIS is the characters own stupidity. WIS is writer stupidity and goes against established continuity and thus will also be disregarded.
7) Be creative - This does not mean make a Moon Knight thread but giving him the power gem, against Batman with the time gem. Threads like that end up going nowhere anyway. Make the threads interesting. Moon Knight against Batman alone will make for a better thread if the OP has the right details.
8) Canon - We want to make sure we are not including feats from alternate universes or possible futures unless that is the character being used for the thread battle.
9) No DBZ characters - Trying to debate those characters against Marvel/DC/Other characters never goes well. Just don't do it.
10) Drama - Do not start it. Do not contribute to it, period! I know that not everyone who comes here is an adult but we are going to try to act like adults anyway. Flame wars, trolling and other such behavior is not tolerated here. If you have an issue with someone, please PM a mod.
11) Do some research on characters before posting - If you do not know anything about a character being discussed, please look up the character.
12) Logic and reason - Use them. I understand that we are all fans of certain characters but try to reign in fanboyism.
13) Try to read the thread - Read up on what has already been discussed to save others the trouble of having to explain issues that have already been addressed.
14) Evidence - Provide it if you have it. Scans, issues references and/or just describing certain events that you are using as the foundation of your argument go a long way. Plus it saves you the trouble of having to browbeat the user you are debating with.
15) No flooding the battle forum - I know that sometimes, you might have 100 battle ideas bouncing around in your head like little Robbie Baldwins but please do not post them all in one day. Your threads cannot generate activity when you pile tons of threads on top of one another at once. Plus it can push others threads that are getting activity off the first page.
16) Please use the Battle Ideas Thread - If you have an idea but are not sure if it is an even battle or if you do not know the characters very well and need advice on the battle in order to make it as even as possible, use that thread. Nobody likes to debate in stomps, which circles us back to rules 4 and 11.
17) Canon character knowledge - Batman does not know about Xavier's powers and does not have an on-hand countermeasure because he is the goddamn Batman. All characters only have in-canon knowledge on their opponent unless specifically stated in the battle OP.
18) THEY MUST BE BATTLES - I am really disappointed that I have to make this a rule but battle threads must be battles. Threads about whether Magneto can block a nuke or not do not belong in this forum. Neither do races, political "battles" or weight lifting contests. Those all belong in the Gen Chat forum. If it is made in this forum, the characters are going to be fighting.
What is Bloodlust? - There is some confusion on what is bloodlust. It is going all out with no morals on, trying to kill the opponent and retaining ALL mental faculties. It is NOT mindless rage. That will be...
What is Berserker? - No better than an animal. Mindless and insane with rage. Will go as far as killing themselves just to injure the opponent.
What are Morals? - They are the codes and standards that the character lives by. If they are on for a battle, he/she is completely in character and will act accordingly to character relationships unless otherwise stated in a battle thread. If they are off, the character is determined to win by any means necessary.
