Wow, sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the feedback guys. There was another point that I wanted to make which I failed to put into the first post. Does anybody know of any comics in which a big Hero sets off to save the world from itself? I.E. Deprivation, Global warming or end to world poverty? (I know there was a good Superman Arc in which he tried to end poverty, that was a very powerful moment, when even Superman was limited via humanity.) Lastly, what are your opinions on this matter? Do you think hero's, if capable, should set out to end poverty etc.. or just stay in their home country? Like most people on this site, I started out life always wanting to be a Superhero when I was a kid, but having grown up, (Psyically, probably not mentally ) the responsibilities involved and the idea of trying to save the whole world or humanity itself just shakes me. To be honest, I don't know who the good guys in real life are anymore. :/ Sorry for the depressive thoughts there.

Black Panther's new series -or DD's old one- are quite close to the little guy.
Edit: There are a few guys who have gone humanitarian to save the world, but many depictions have such "world savers" in a gray morality light. A good example would be the latest chapters of Marvel Man.

Cable is the perfect example of an individual using their power in an attempt to make the world a better place. That's pretty much ALL he does in Cable & Deadpool.

I wish Cable would get back to doing that. I loved how he was casually traveling through time and owning Apocalypse whenever he popped up in history. I would also like him to start using his Cone of Silence and Dominus Objective again to supplement his loss of TK/TP. He has been written very poorly as of late.

What annoys me is that ordinary people hardly have any part in most superhero fights anymore. There's hardly any "save the ordinary people from the villian's evil scheme" anymore. Ninety percent of it is just "hero and villian in a constant power struggle just because they hate each other". Villians never try to destroy the world anymore. They just try to destroy the heroes. There was a time when a superhero fight would do damage to a ton of personal property and people would say, "It really f**king sucks for me that my car got totalled because of your fight, but I guess it's kinda ok since you were saving all of us from that freak." Now people just say, "DUDE. WTF. You just f**king totalled my car! And there's not even a good reason for it! You're just having your own little personal battle and you didn't have the decency to take it to a place where you wouldn't cause collateral damage!" /rant

I miss the days when Spider-Man would just swoop down and beat the shit out of a mugger.
Good times.

The best part of Bendis's run on DD is the part where he fights a huge gang that's on some super power drug thing. It was a really good scene.

I really wish the X-Men had been given more time on the Manhattan scene (just cruising around and doing the standard superhero gig). But most of their history has been exactly what I was ranting about. Stopping mutant terrorist groups and having back-and-forth wars with Magneto, Sinister, ect. They rarely actually got out and pounded the pavement like any normal superheroes.

So they are in a different ball game.

Superior is a good read if you want him out there being the "hero for the people". I guess it helps he's the only superhero on his planet. ;-)
