Haunt is the story of two brothers: Kurt & Daniel Kilgore. These 2 brothers lead completely opposite lives. Daniel is a secret agent and Kurt is a priest. The two brothers have a tumultuous relationship to say the least. Daniel comes to Kurt for confessionals and Kurt could care less about his brother. After a mission goes wrong Kurt is double crossed and killed.
The brothers discover that Kurt can still hear Daniel even after his death. Kurt reluctantly agrees to do Daniel a favor and stay the night at his surviving wife Amanda’s place. During the night a pair of assassins arrive to kill Amanda. They believe she may have information on something Daniel was working on for his last mission. In the ensuing fight Kurt and Daniel’s bodies are merged in a new ectoplasmic form called Haunt. Killing the two assassins the brothers realize that they’ve been transformed into a new, powerful form.
Similar to Firestorn in nature and many of the Marvel symbiotes in appearance, the brothers Kilgore discover that there are many aspects to Daniel’s death that were left uncovered. Haunt teams up with agents from the espionage agency Daniel was a member of to do so.
Fury Thoughts:
This is one of the first Image comics I’ve read in years and it’s pretty decent. If you’re looking for a more mature alternative to Marvel or DC I’d pick it up. The language is definitely adult oriented and the gore level is a good bit higher than you’ll find from the Big Two. The art is really good and captures many of the gory scenes you'll find in this comic. Another thing I liked is the two brothers' disdain for each other plays a part in Haunt's overall abilities. Also for $9.99 (American) it's well worth the cover price.
All in all I’ll go with a 6/10.
