'Courage Is Immortal.' That seems to be the theme Marvel is going with now, internationally at least. I think it sounds pretty good. Empire has revealed two new international posters for the Thunder God, Thor. 'Thor' is set to be released by Marvel Studios May 6, 2011.

I think they both look pretty awesome. Hopefully we will see some massive displays of magical/weather power and strength from Thor in this movie. I'd like to see some posters/advertising for the Warriors Three as well.

When I heard there would a Thor movie At first I was like this: Then the trailer was available. And they spoke that shitty: "I come from a world where magic and technology are the same thing". I became: And now I expect the movie to at best be a serviceable popcorn flick if there's nothing else on

"Where magic and science are one and the same."
Can't wait to see you eat your words when you see the movie =)

Do you want the Thor script? I have it, have not read it, but hear it is fantastic.

"Where magic and science are one and the same." Can't wait to see you eat your words when you see the movie =) Seriously doubt it. I'm not saying I think it will totally suck necessarily (thought it's quite possible). But if that's the approach they take to the magic, then it can't be all it could have been. It's simply impossible.

Maybe. Maybe that's just the way Thor explains it to a mere mortal. They could take it that way. Judging by the trailer where Thor smashes his cup on the ground and demands another drink, and when he says you dare threaten Thor, with so puny a weapon...etc...I think this movie's dialogue will be better than you think.

Maybe. Maybe that's just the way Thor explains it to a mere mortal. I've never seen such a comment be presented in such a tone and in such a way where that was truely the case, even if that's what the writer is aiming at. Much, much better writers have tries and failed. Great dialogue does not undermine a completely retarded comment or world reality/situation. Magic is not technology, it is not science. The appeal of magic to readers is not the same as the appeal of sci-fi or super tech. Saying so means you either don't understand such a basic fact, or you've got a very skewed view of science that needs to be fixed fast.

Thor didn't even use the word 'technology.'
I'm done! Alcohol.

I'm pretty sure it's a reference to one of Arthur Clarke's three laws, the third of which goes:
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
I don't think Thor meant it literally. Or maybe their magic is their "technology" in the sense that they're advancements are only made in that field.
At any rate, who gives a shit, it's one line from a trailer. I'd be more worried about the more ridiculous aspects, like, you know, Asgard in general and the Destroyer armor (or whatever that was) and Thor drop-kicking soldiers or whatever.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." Which itself bespeaks exactly of the problems I'm talking about. And every time someone says that they are wrong and a real scientist would respond: "If a groups science is indistinguishable from magic, they they have no science"

Hmm... These look nice. I'm excited but I wont get my hopes up. I still haven't seen the trailer on t.v. over here though for some reason.

And every time someone says that they are wrong and a real scientist would respond: "If a groups science is indistinguishable from magic, they they have no science" Except it's not indistinguishable for the group using the science, because then it's not advanced. It's only advanced for a group lagging behind the group that is using the science, and to them it is indistinguishable from magic. It's like if I went back to medieval times with a friend, brought a walkie talkie and demonstrated it to the folks then, they'd probably shit their pants or cut off my head or whatever. It's science to us, crazy magical shit to them.

Except it's not indistinguishable for the group using the science, because then it's not advanced. It's only advanced for a group lagging behind the group that is using the science, and to them it is indistinguishable from magic. That is completely irrelevant to what magic and science actually are. It doesn't matter if someone who doesn't have sufficient scientific knowledge can't distinguish the difference. The difference, a unilateral and completely incompatible difference, prevents science and magic from being the same. If a person can't distinguish the difference, that only means he needs to study and learn more.
