Well, for starters---who has read his latest one-shot?

I haven't -- yet.

I look forward to your thoughts on it. It's not a must-read by any measure, but it's entertaining and shines a little more light on his origin and emotions.

Also, I want to know what you think about future potential for the character after the issue.
Yes, that's your homework.

Me neither, he seemed cool from what I seen from the Thunderbolts..

I never saw much potential for Crossbones as a character aside from the occasional foil for Steve Rogers or Buck Barnes. He's a pawn, not a planner, and his personality in general leaves much to be desired.I'll get to it.

"I never saw much potential for Crossbones as a character aside from the occasional foil for Steve Rogers or Buck Barnes. After all, pawns are always needed

I have the Captain America/Crossbones one shot but I have not read it yet. I will weigh in once I do.

You can be a pawn and still be more interesting than Crossbones.

You can be a pawn and still be more interesting than Crossbones. I believe he's been given more of a personality in Thunderbolts and this one-shot. He's a far more sarcastic prick than before. Classic was just pretty, well, stupid when it comes to his dialogue. His personality only stood out when he mocked Captain America or was training Diamondback, IMO. Then again, the guy never really had a high school education, so his poor grammar is understandable. He was in a gang during that period then went directly to Taskmaster's school.

How devoted to Red Skull's beliefs is Crossbones? Is he a jew killing nazi through and through? Would he refuse to work with black people?

I'd rather we see more about his motivation. Hopefully the one-shot delivers in that aspect. He's simply a character that aside from his good qualities as a physical threat, has never interested me further, mostly due to his lack of personality. He seems evil just for the sake of it.

How devoted to Red Skull's beliefs is Crossbones? Is he a jew killing nazi through and through? Would he refuse to work with black people? It's tough to determine, TBH. The gang he ran with when he was young was racist (as seen in his one-shot), but I don't remember any remarks from him through the years that would imply he's racist. He also joined forces with Red Skull past WW2, so none of his missions had anything to do with a Nazi agenda, IIRC.

An overall motivation isn't revealed, but it sheds more emotion from him than I've seen before. I think it's done in a good manner, too.
[/i][/quote] I think that's exactly what he is. Falls under the likes of Bullseye and Sabretooth---just horrible people. As a whole I'd say his origin created the man that he is. That's no excuse, of course.

I'll read it and get back to you.
Gotcha. It just makes it more difficult to care about him since he isn't as iconic or a terrible threat to his nemesis as the other two.

"Cool. I'll read it and get back to you." I'll see your "cool" and raise you a "neat-o."

I know Crossbones feats are few and far between, so here's one. Sure, it's not THAT impressive, but it's not shabby, either.
