I'm interested in knowing which organization is more powerful or resourceful at it's prime and currently to boot,i've seen threads like this on other site but they were loaded with DC and marvel fanboys going for their favourite company.
A Kobra/HYDRA comparision would be appreciated as well. I'm not really knowledgeble on any of these so some answers would be appreciated.

Checkmate never really struck me as that powerful. They're foremost a spy agency. They sit around in shadows, collecting information, performing covert ops, and generally relatively minor stuff while the Justice League is out saving the world and everything. The only I ever saw them as a threat to anyone was when Max Lord was in charge, and that's because it's Max Lord. SHIELD can wage freaking wars on its own. They're not so much a spy agency as Interpol with ten inches of penis grafted on. They have mobile headquarters which double as fully functioning battleships, armed forces, modern military vehicles, super weapons, and an international clearance to do whatever the hell they want. So yeah, if I wanted an agency to cover my ass, SHIELD would be the way to go.
On a tangent, anyone noticed how bloody retarded was to have the president of the United States dismantle a United Nations organization in Dark Reign? Screw you Bendis.

I think he summed it up quite well. I don't really have anything to add.

Can you expand on the Kobra/Hydra comparison?

Can you expand on the Kobra/Hydra comparison? Same as shield and checkmate.

The reason why the President was able to dismantle SHIELD is because America contributes almost all their funding.

Great post. The reason why the President was able to dismantle SHIELD is because America contributes almost all their funding. That makes perfect sense, funnily enough. Still, it left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Great post. The reason why the President was able to dismantle SHIELD is because America contributes almost all their funding. That makes perfect sense, funnily enough. Still, it left a very bad taste in my mouth. Well that is true. It is still UN controlled so I would have expected there to be collaboration on it. But there may have been off-panel. Maybe it was unanimous. Or maybe the President just said, "F**k you guys, we are pulling funding and starting our own thing."
