TBH, I like mainstream Hawkeye's costume better, but only in a comic. The purple wouldn't translate well to a movie.

I don't think the color is the issue at all, that's why I suggested a darker shade could be used as an underarmor kind of deal. It's just the entire concept of the 616 costume that wouldn't translate well.
Obviously though BRIGHT purple would look bad and just be dumb translated to the screen for Barton. That works well on Joker, regardless of the media outlet, due to the unique personality/mindset/look of the character, IMO.

The joker is a crazy guy who wore a beat up, dark shaded purple suit. Hawkeye is a hero who's costume (616 or even Ultimate) is a ridiculous looking attire made of bright purple.

His original Ultimates costume wasn't purple. I should have clarified I was referring to that version. It was black, with a little red.
