Chris Hemsworth got way too buff for his Thor costume.
So basically what happened here is that his costume was so tight and restricting that it literally cut off circulation to his appendages. This bulk came to him in just three months from his last measurements for the costume, until just prior to shooting, about 20 lbs. Hemsworth continues with his workout routine that gave him all that muscle:
After realizing he was too big for his costume, both he and the director, Kenneth Branagh decided it was best to tone it down just a bit. So Hemsworth put his focus more on cardio rather than weight training. He dropped about 15 lbs to get back into the suit comfortably. What has he got to say since the shooting was finished?
I imagine, he will be getting a new suit for The Avengers movie so that does bring up the question about what the new costume will look like. Will it be the same, or will it be slightly different?
I think this is interesting. Especially when similar new was released about Brandon Routh on Superman Returns. He bulked up so much for the role, that his muscle inserts had to be removed.
I personally think that at least for super hero movies, inserts are a lazy and cheap way to go. The fact that these actors take their roles seriously enough to drastically change their lifestyles for it pleases me. What do you think Ledgers?
Credit for the news rightfully goes to Yahoo, who I am sure swiped it from someone else anyway.

"[My] hands started going numb... And I started getting pins and needles and you'd touch the skin and the blood wouldn't return to the area so quick."

"It was purely eating, eating, eating, working out and working out, trying to sleep as much as you can -- that's the other third of the equation."
