As you should know Bucky Barnes took the role of Captain America from Steve Rodgers when he was shot 'dead' , after his miraculous return The sheild and the mantle of Captain America was gave back to Steve from Bucky , Steve refused and became The director of Sheild and head of the new Avengers.
My question is , should Steve return to his mantle ?
My original thoughts were , yes , Steven Rodgers is Captain America and has been for the past 70 years and he should continue to be , but its been months now he has been absent a Flag across his body and so far Steve has been adamant bucky continues on.
On the other hand I love Bucky , he is one of my favorite characters , and as Captain America is my favourite hero when i first started reading comics a few years ago the character i began to read was Cap , old Caps at first but began collecting Brubaker's (legendary) run and I grew watching Bucky as Cap and not Steve , so in my situation Bucky is as much Cap as Steve , younger readers than me see Bucky as Cap and if Steve were to return to the mantle he'd be seen as you all see Bucky , a man taking over the Cap costume .
Between the old generation and young generation there is still a vast majority in the older generation as Buck has not been Cap for anywwhere near as long as Steve , but he's already gone through various major Story Arcs, Skrull Wars,Seige etc. and many have read him as Cap as well , my point being that most see Steve as Ca and not Bucky when they picture Captain America, will this persuade Marvel to bring back blonde ? Or will Marvel stick it's guns (for once) and stand by decisions .
A big return from Steve could make a lot of money and this could persuade them more , but the thing is , do we want Steve back ?
Should originality prevail ?
Or is this the realisation of a dawning in a new age of one of the greatest characters ever ?

I like Steve as the director of SHIELD. Bucky is the new Captain America and he wears the mantle well.

I like the new him too and i Love Buck but it just seems , unnatural , on one hand i don't want Buck to give up The sheild but on the other hand it'll always be Steve's in my eyes. Maybe if Bucky could (like Grayson) Break of from being Cap and Cap's side kick to become a hero in his own right , i would totally buy that series and if Cap could return for the next big event after Fear

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Steve's return to the mantle already in plan? I seem to recall something about him becoming cap again this summer.

Steve Rogers should stay the SHIELD director. Bucky should stay Captain America. Unless they plan on starting the Captain America Corps, this should not change.

Just not a fan. I'll refrain so I don't derail the thread.

*Possible Spoilers*
Not sure who's up to date on what's going on in the Captain America ongoing, but I am 100% sure that Marvel is making a VERY CLEAR move towards having Steve pick up the Captain America mantle again. Last arc was The Trial of Captain America (ended at #615) and it did not end well for Bucky. After that we have #615.1 which blatantly shows Steve being manipulated back in to becoming CA by someone very central to the Marvel U. I read #616 today and it's even more clear that Marvel is moving the direction of resetting Steve back to being Captain America. I knew they would do this as soon as the movie was announced.

Cap just doesn't seem like Cap if it's not Steve.

Just not a fan. I'll refrain so I don't derail the thread. But technically, any rant on Bucky being Captain America WOULD be on topic.

I would have thought that would have made news. I have not seen anything on it yet though. Maybe as a temporary thing but I doubt permanently. At least not in the near future. Steve refused the shield because it meant that Bucky would die.

Steve refused the shield because it meant that Bucky would die. Here we go. Interestingly, CBR doesn't even mention the damn thing, which is rather strange, I think. It should get an awful lot more publicity than it is. It makes sense though. The movie's coming up, and Marvel wants the comic version to coincide with the movie as much as possible. Tried and true tactic.

I'll admit I was a fan of the idea of Barton becoming Cap when Steve had just died and the mantle was still up for grabs. I guess it's just Bucky that I don't really like as much.

Steve is the only Cap for me, none other have ever come to proving themselves worthy and most keep proving they are not.

I have changed my view....After reading some of Cap America #616 I think Bucky needs to get out and take the mantle back up.....and Steve needs a new job something to get him out in the field more without all of these rules he has to follow he seems depressed.
