"The Manhunters are an android race, originally created by the Guardians of the Universe to serve as the first interstellar police force. The Manhunters became more obsessed with administering punishment than serving justice, forcing the Guardians to dissolve their ranks. The few Manhunters that survived fled into exile and the Guardians founded a new elite police force called the Green Lantern Corps and armed its members with specially crafted power rings. Now the Manhunters are back and out for revenge, readying their forces for a war against the Guardians and the Green Lantern Corps. Faced with destruction, the Corps is looking to you as the newest recruit, gifted but cocky test pilot Hal Jordan, to protect peace and preserve justice. Building on the anticipation of Warner Bros.' feature film Green Lantern, in theaters June 17, 2011, Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters includes the likeness and voice talent of Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, who is the star of the upcoming motion picture."
Product Features
-Master the Ring: Wield the Green Lantern Power Ring to create a spectacular range of "hard-light" constructs including a gatling gun, giant fists, and much more, all of which can be linked together to form an endless number of combinations.
-Stand Together: Join forces with a friend to play as Hal Jordan or Sinestro to battle the Manhunters, with the ability to drop in or out at will.
-Take Flight: Dodge, blast, and destroy legions of enemies as you soar across the universe in battles of intergalactic scope. Well now, this seems interesting. The game is a tie-in to the upcoming GL movie. I must say I'm not that overwhelmed by the trailer (Or maybe I'm just spoiled by Blizzard and Bethesda? ) but the game looks beautiful, and the possibilities of a GL ring and hard light constructs could be pretty amazing if done right. My only problem is that it doesn't come out on PC! The game will be available on June 7, 2011 on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, Nintendo DS an 3DS. What do you guys think?

Video games based on movies tend to be rushed and often suffer from that. The trailer I saw a few days ago on IGN didn't leave me with any impression since it's just a cut scene, so I'll save from passing judgement until we get some gameplay videos. I won't be surprised if this ends up having the same feel as the Iron Man video game and aka being rather crappy, lol.

It's in continuity, but follows its own story (A story written by Marv frickin Wolfman, I might add). If it was just an official game, I wouldn't even bother mentioning it.

I think you misunderstood or I suck at elaborating and assume everyone understands It's a movie- based video game, just like Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, etc. That brand of games are infamous for being rushed to help promote the movie and overall the quality always pales in comparison to other titles (Wolverine aside. That was shockingly good for a change).

Obviously I'd love for the game to be good, but the history of video games pushed to meet a movie release tend to be poor in quality.

Sad but true, k4tz is right. There have been hundreds of video games based on movies. The problem is the production time has to fit in with the release of the movie, so it has to come out at the same time the movie does. So if they aren't finished the game, and let's face it, games can take years and years to make well, then it gets rushed out when it isn't done.
I can't honestly ever remember a movie-based game that didn't suck horribly. The writing by Marv Wolfman might be great but Marv Wolfman doesn't create video game environments or 3d models last time I looked. DC Universe had a slew of top comic-book writers but when it came out it didn't have a lot of content as a video game.

This one doesn't. It is in continuity with the movie, but other than that has nothing to do with it, story-wise. It is completely unrelated to the movie's plot. Now granted, you points stand, but this fact makes me think that they're approaching this from a different angle, and that they're not making just another movie game.

Plenty of 'video game movies' are based on the Universe of the established movie, but follow different plots. At the end of the day it's not the story that saves games like this but instead the effort put into developing solid gameplay mechanics and other features.

I honestly can't remember one of the top of my head. I don't disagree though.

I'll probably get this, Thor and the Cap Game. Also to add, why is Hal creating a construct of a plane and smashing it into the enemy? Is he that bad of a pilot that if he isn't crashing a plane into something he just can't by?
