Still hope that at the end of this mini series it turns into an on-going title. Silver Surfer is too good of a character to not have a title, and Pak and Segovia are great as well.

I kinda feel Pak went to such depths and extremities in his attempt to make the series totally accessible to new readers. All the things SS feels and says would ring true to someone who knows little about him, but to people who have followed him before (and while his days of prominence are past, he did hold his own title for 140+ issues in a row) it is hollow. That being said, I still think it's a good story in its own right and I look forward to seeing the resolution. Not too excited about the announced team-up with the Future Foundation in # 4, but Marvel seems to be trying to make this series sell, nonetheless. And frankly, between a new, good SS series that omits some of his past to attract new readers and no SS series at all, I'll take option number 1.
Another thing is that is worth mentioning is that the bulk (if not all - it's been more than a week since I read it) of the issue was pencilled by Harvey Tolibao, not Stephen Segovia, so you got to thank/blame him for creepy Norrin.

Lol I did see Segovia shared penciling duties this issue and figured he wasn't to blame.
SS is teaming up with FF in SS #4? I'll have to look at that, but like you said, not excited about it. I think you are right though, it does seems Marvel wants this to sell and be a success. Bring on that SS on-going.
I agree with this whole heartedly.

@ ckal - It makes sense considering the Surfer's ties with the team, but it seems more like a publicity stunt to me.Attachments:

I'm sure it is a publicity stunt, but you know what? If it works on sales and results in an on-going, and doesn't feel forced or lame, then I'm all for it.

Wait. Surfer used to be an organic life form. It is likely that he used to drink water when he was organic. Even if not, he had to have seen oceans and the like in his travels across the cosmos.
I also thought he was able to feel temperatures, just not be harmed by the extremes.
Looking weird is okay for me. He is an alien after all but the rest of that stuff sounds really bad.

To be fair, it's been a while since he's had anything go down that throat. As for exactly how long, I wouldn't have a clue, I'd imagine it sorta like being with braces for a year or two and having them removed, that mouth will feel like a completely different place. He's been chucking down on the cosmic energy. Not sure about feeling temperatures myself, I'm not exactly sure if he should feel the full force of the extreme temperatures, maybe a general "This is warm or hot" but probably nothing like we do. Nice to see someone agrees with the whole alien portion, Norrin since the begining didn't exactly look the spitting image of human: Even when Doom depowered him the first time, he still was running around all Silver Surfered up. Thats why I was sorta scratching me head if he was really depowered, but I guess he was. Still amazed the High Evolutionary jacked Galactus stuff and reworked it, thats gotta piss off Galactus, it just has to.

erik and hellos- Take this how you will, but in Silver Surfer #1, Surfer explains that he does not feel anything while he is in the sun at 10,000 degree heat. My guess is that he can tell what the temperatures are, but doesn't feel them.

My guess is that he can tell what the temperatures are, but doesn't feel them. That I remember I was thinking Erik meant further back in the Surfer's history. Even a flash back in issue two has Norrin looking back at barely feeling the heat of his alien sweetheart's hug. But I do agree it being more so desensitized by that silver coating, lack of organs really, etc pretty much leaving heat as more "This is hot", regardless of what heat he is getting hit with. While as the Silver Surfer, at least since Annihilation / re herald, Norrin really doesn't have anything remotely in common with the body he once had. I'm surprised he doesn't turn off his power set more often to take everything in, but that might be mostly due to being in space the vast majority of the time and writers not thinking it's within his power to do so. *Hellos continues with his insane ramblings*
