The movie for the merc with a mouth appeared to be in a rough place... First it appeared Reynolds wouldn't have time for the character with his busy schedule, then there were rumors of issues with landing a creative team. But now it looks like visual effects specialist Tim Miller will be directing the (hopefully) R-rated action/comedy.
Miller has previously worked on effects for Fox superhero films such as "Daredevil" and "X-Men" as well was "Scott Pilgrim vs the World."
Ryan Reynolds might be busy with numerous projects, but the actor says he's still very interested in the project, and in a recent interview said he absolutely loved the script. He claims it's true to the character and a great blend of comedy and action. And yes, friends, this film would ignore the events in X-Men Origins: Wolverine!
Do you guys have hope for Deadpool to kick ass on the big screen, or do you think it will be an epic fail? Speak up, Ledgers!

Oh, I'm glad they took all this time to hire a guy with no directing experience. Thanks Fox!
Btw k4tz, I've read the script, and while I have just a couple issues with it (nothing too major), it is fantastic. To actually see that on screen would be amazing, but realistically? Wouldn't surprise me if Fox watered it down to a PG-13 to appeal to a wider audience and try to grab additional cash. Then you lose what is the essence of Deadpool.

Wow, Deadpool is getting a movie, and I couldn't care less. Does that make me a bad person?

There is no point to make a PG-13 Deadpool movie. Whether it is a good essence or not, that's what he is.

ckal, I wouldn't be surprised either if it's toned down to a PG-13 rating to rake in more cash. Still, you can get away with a good amount in that rating level, so it all depends on to what degree they tone everything down, I suppose.

I read the script. The way they deal with Origins: Wolverine is fucking fantastic.
