Yeah, so it goes like this. Capcom and Namco are like, "hey, we both know we're the best there is at what we do, so why don't we join forces just to see what happens?" And then one of the greatest crossovers was born. Well, I doubt it was really like that, but either way somethin' along the lines of somethin' else happened similarly to that. Capcom and Namco are making two new video games. Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter. (Oh, and the X is pronounced "cross.") The SFXT game is being made by Capcom, and it's gonna be more geared in the SF way of things. 2D fighting plane, SSIV-esque graphics, basically everything you'd expect from a fighter made by Capcom. TXSF is pretty much the other way around. It's being made by Namco, and it's all gonna be in the Tekken type world, with 3D graphics an' junk to give it that Namco feel. Now, this isn't the first time Capcom and Namco got together to do something. Back in 2005, they had a PS2 game called, oddly enough, Namco X Capcom. It wasn't really a fighter, but it does prove that these two companies have worked together before. From what I've seen, they're both gonna involve a tag team sorta play about 'em. Two on Two fighting is cool. SFXT looks like it'll come out sooner than TXSF because there's definitely more information circulating around about it. Now, I for one think this is the greatest thing to happen in fighting game history. As far as video games go, fighters have always been my first love, so seeing this being brought to life is amazing. There've been a number of articles talkin' about this, and I'll link to a few of them at the end of this post, but as for now, let's talk about how you guys think this'll play out. Should these games happen? Is making two games the best way to go about this or should they've both went into one big super product? Did anyone grow up liking one over the other so much that you think this is an insult to your favorite style of fighting? PIS and fighting games might as well be synonymous with each other, but I agree. yeah but here it's blatant. I like Tekken and all, but to be fair the Tekken universe fighters would get curbstomped by the top dogs of the SF universe. |

Marvel versus Capcom isn't PIS I think since the reason and premise are so obviously ridiculous that there isn't supposed not to be some ridiculousness. So I don't consider it PIS. Mortal Kombat versus DC tried to have an explanation in the story mode. Not a good one, but at least it existed. Still sucked with PIS. But Tekken, the fighters in there would have trouble matching even the low tier Street Fighter ones and characters like Akuma, Ryu, Gen and Seth would walk all over them. |

Maybe this game'll be like how it is with MVC then. I dunno, fighting game crossovers usually lack so much in the story department that I find it best to ignore it anyway. No need to let that get in the way of me having Jin and Hwoarang go up against Ryu and Ken and enjoying every minute of it.

The problem is the trailer seems to indicate that the direction for the crossover is closer to MK VS DCU (bad tried to be serious) then Marvel VS Capcom (good because the ridiculousness is embraced)
And that's where it will likely fail in some aspects. If you are going for a ridiculous premise/set up embrace it otherwise it will be bad.

Actually, this trailer gave me the same vibe that the 4 trailers for MVC3 gave me. I was almost expecting a real intricate crossover story, but when the game came out, I played through the arcade, everything was as ridiculous and zany as ever. I doubt anything too serious'll come from this.

The only issue with this game is that it looks like a street fighter game with tekken characters, hopefully capcom will prove me wrong. Sure, graphics wise, but I figured that was what they were going for. Gameplay wise should be a good bit different from a Street Fighter game, though, and that much you could tell from the vids. |

I think this is exaggerated a bit.I think Tekken is way closer in comparison than Marvel and Capcom or DC and MK.To be perfectly honest if not for characters like Bison,Akuma,and Rose and match up between the two looks better in Tekken's favor.If you've watched the endings you know Tekken characters are capable of ridiculous things just as much as SF characters are. |
