Alright Morph, on the matter of Daken VS Gambit.
***SPOILERS****
I think it's clear Daken just wanted to stall Gambit while Colcord had the chance to inject X-23, but the real question is....Why the need to stall? Why couldn't Daken logically gut Gambit if he wanted to then take on a distracted X-23? We know he's more skilled and has the pheromones to help best her. I think the writers were just giving Gambit a lot of credit, TBH. I'm glad they've been giving Gambit's speed/reflexes more credit, though. He was reduced quite a bit in that aspect during Legacy. So regarding this fight, I don't see why Daken would just LET himself get smacked around, especially since he is capable of pulling a stalemate without the use of his claws. In conclusion, I think they gave Gambit a lot of credit, but made it clear Daken was also just trying to keep him distracted as Colcord found a moment to inject X-23.

@ K4tz - Daken could have chopped Gambit's head off at the end, instead of punching him, but I figure he may have thought he would be far more useful to him alive. Likely for experimentation, something he was talking to Colcord earlier on. A small bonus along with X-23.
Other than that, I agree with your estimation. Gambit was given great credit, but Daken didn't seem to have his head in the game.

At first glance from the first panel he hits him, I thought that was his cleanched fist. My bad.
