@henshin: Oh. I read the entire series. In My Life and Revelations were a good arcs in that series, among the others. Revelations showed how, since he arrived on earth decades before the modern age of superheroes, he has actually lived on earth longer than most current superheroes have been alive. The Martian was monitoring SuperMan all the way back when he was still little Clark Kent on the Kansas farm. He also met Corrigan/Spectre, met BatMan early on, and met Amon Sur.
Are those SA stories?

Yup. The collected stories were written during the 1950s.

@henshin: Never read those. I have read very few SA comics. I just never had enough interest in them.

I personally love Silver Age stories. Hal, Superman, J'onn, and Barry. I even have a lot of Batman's stories from when I was collecting all of his trades.

@henshin: I never found them interesting, personally. Maybe I just never gave them enough chance, but I have enough to read as is. Plus, I have heard myriads of poor reviews from people anyway. If the quality is as poor as I have heard (aside from you), I doubt it would be worth my time anyway.

Yeah, they get a lot of mixed reviews. Saturn's one of the few people I can talk to about them as he shares similar opinions of them.

@henshin: What was the Martian's character like in the Silver Age? Was he similar to how he is currently?

To a certain degree. The dialogue is different for the most part, considering the time they were written in, but it still feels like J'onn.

@henshin: I see.
Have you ever read The Others Among Us?

Of course. I liked the character development he got following Infinite Crisis and World War III. I like how devoted he is to his Martian heritage despite his strong bond to the JLA. What did you think of the costume? Some people hated the change but I liked it.

@henshin: Oh, really? Most people I talk to have never read it.
I agree with what you said also. The Others Among Us seems to expand on what the Martian discovered about himself during World War III, but when he finds out there may be other Green Martians, he blindsides the warnings he receives from his fellows. He acknowledges that later on as he essentially pays for his own mistakes. It was a great miniseries, one of the best Martian Manhunter series I ever read. What did you think about the ending though?
I liked the costume change. Honestly, he desperately needed one. The Post-52 through Final Crisis and the new Brightest Day uniforms are good.

I liked his confrontation with Cay'an, as well as J'onn's conversation with Till'all. It really showed a lot about his character.

@henshin: I agree. When he actually, he confronts the White Martians and Cay'an after discovering that Cay'an had been manipulating him since the beginning, he demonstrates where his loyalties are. What did you think about never finding out what the conclusion of his fight with Cay'an was though? That was one aspect I have hoped since I read it that writers would expand on. I was really hoping that the other Green Martian in Brightest Day was Cay'an, but (not to spoil anything, but I think you know anyway) it wasn't.
The interactions with the Trinity were interesting also. Diana only had a few scenes, and BatMan remained distant. But SuperMan was involved a little more, which makes sense.

I really wanted J'onn to beat her but I guess her being able to flee left some options open. If she was so evenly matched with J'onn though, just imagine how powerful the Green Martians were. Btw, I always wanted an arc where it explained or showed J'onn someone collecting the telepathic abilities of his fallen Martians in the astral plane or something. Like an amp, I guess. Him having the telepathic power of other Green Martians with him, and at the same time, he still had connections with them in the astral plane. Kind of like how Kilowog absorbed the life forms of the billions of Bolovax Vikians in his Ring before.

@henshin: I thought of that also. The problem is that writers seem seem to have completely forgotten about her, as if she never existed. At what point exactly she would make a return, I have no idea, but it seems as if that will never happen now. Interesting idea. Does he really need more telepathic power though? Let's be honest. The guy already demolishes most DC/Marvel telepaths as it is. No, but I see your point. That would be an interesting concept. The only problem is that when Martians die, their consciousness/souls are supposed to be taken to the Well of Souls, according to Martian culture. So I have no idea if there is any psychic energy for him to be amped with left at all, not to mention that not all of the Green Martians who were killed in the plague were brought to the Well of Souls anyway.

@henshin: Back on the subject of The Others Among Us though, writers apparently forgot about Till'all as well. Aside from M'gann, Till'all is the only White Martian that has actually been an ally to J'onn. I really hope someone digs through old files, finds The Others Among Us, and realizes that they forgot about everything that took place in an awesome series.

Alright I've got a question(s) about J'onn. More specifically his intangibility. I have seen people bring this up all the time in his battles as basically a fail safe argument, and it just seems like something is not right about it. Also, I would like to understand it more since I don't follow him.
1) What stops Jonn from constantly fighting in an intangible state? (assuming he can still harm his opponent with his eye beams and telepathy). Plot?
2) He can react at FTL speeds right? And he can instantly turn intangible right? What is stopping him from avoiding every single attack by going intangible? Plot?
3) Has he ever been harmed in an intangible state before? If so, plot?
4) How often does he actually utilize his intangibility in a fight? If not very often, does it have something to do with morals or CIS? Or plot?
5) Are there any limitations to his intangibility?
Any info/opinions on this would be appreciated =)
