I really do not see the problem with any of these moves.
In light of the New Krypton storyline, it would seem to make sense for Superman to decide to be with his fellow Kryptonians, given that he had never really been with any before the storyline.
In the case of Batman, I do not see what his recruit's religion would have to do with his functionality as a member of Batman Inc. no more than Batwoman's sexual orientation affects her ability as a member.
Finally, in the case of Wonder Woman, the costume change is probably more due to the move to bring WW back to television in a costume that is more realisticly functional than her original costume. I'm guessing that this new version is going to get into a lot more action than Linda Carter did in the original series.
The fact that news networks are focusing their attention on these "issues" is most likely because they don't really want to look at what is really affecting our country.

Superman can suck a kryptonite dick as far as I'm concerned... Someone should be standing for the American way.. Because a lot of Americans aren't.
What is the American way??? It's freedom and the idea that man can rule him self.... It's Indavidual salvation. Americans no longer fight to protect that idea... They fight to protect stuff... While our enemy does fight for an idea... The idea of sheria law and collective salvation... That is why they are growing strong... Stuff doesn't stand a chance against an idea... But if we would get back to fighting for an idea.... Their idea wouldn't stand a chance against ours....
Superman should be fighting for the American way... Because it is enough and always has been... It's us who have changed.
What better way is there to fight for??? Suppression?

The fact that news networks are focusing their attention on these "issues" is most likely because they don't really want to look at what is really affecting our country. Actual stuff like this is a part of what is destroying our country... We have so many Americans who are pushing the agenda that America is a bad place..... They keep pushing us further away from our roots... They are making us become self hating.... So that we will become even more pogresive and want to change.... The question is change in to what??? The problem is... The more progressive we become the weaker we get.... Why would we want to become like the rest of the world??? So we can have collective rule and suppression?? It is the American way and our idea of freedom that took the world so far so fast.... We have moved away from the American way... That is way things seem so bad... Moving further away will not make them better.... It will make them worse.... We need to move back.... Restoration not revolution. The American way is when power comes from the individual and not the collective.... It is not power to the people but power from the people... A million leaders with a million ideas is always better then a million peopl with the same idea... Because with the American way... Or an individual based society... there is a million ways to succeed and a million ways to fail.... But there is so much diversity that there is never complet failure.... There is always some sucsess and the failures that do happen the rest of us can learn from.... The chance for sucsess goes up as we move along.... In a collective society everyone is subject to the same sucsess or the same failure.... So the further along you go the odds for sucsess can only go down because if you flip a 2 sides coin your bound to get tails eventually.... It's just simple math that aplies to any system... Diversity wins.... And individual diversity is the American way.

Don't really see what is the big deal here. Nothing really changes. I pretty much agree with what Morph said. I don't really understand why people are making such a fuss about it. There are way more serious things to discuss right now.

Figured I would throw my 2 cents back in now that I have read the issue.
First of all, let me say first and foremost, this is such a big non-issue compared to what this country and this world is actually facing. The U.S. is risking defaulting on its growing debt, and the biggest solutions our politicians can think of is passing a budget that takes funding away from vital programs, yet leaves tax credits in place for companies that continue to report record quarterly profits.
As for the issue of Superman's citizenship, in reality, Superman has never been just an American hero, that is certainly more so since the 1970s. Even in the movies, Superman's actions are not simply a hero for the U.S., but for the world.
In reading the story, Superman does not take exception to American ideals, he takes exception to the idea that his actions represent the actions of the U.S. government. He realizes that as long as he considers himself an American citizen, others will imply that his actions represent the beliefs of all Americans, whether he intends them to be or not. Superman knows that if he is going to be the hero of the world, then his cannot be a citizen of just one part of it.
To be honest, I'm surprised that those who believe in the globalist conspiracy have not seen this story as a step towards getting people to accept the concept of a one world government, but then, I have a very active imagination.

This supermen issue is relevant because of what it represents..
There are a lot of big problems... The debt, devaluing our currency, the wars in the middle east.... But all of those problems are symptoms of a bigger problem. You have to ask your self "why". Why are we spending money that we don't have? Why did we bail out banks, why were the banks giving loans to people who couldn't afford them? What are we fighting for in the middle east? Doing thoes things is not the American way... And that is the problem... we have lost our way... America use to be a country of individuals with individual ideas... A country where man ruled himself.. But we are now becoming a country of people who want to be taken care of... America was an idea... And we are not fighting for that idea any more...
Do you know how Ronald Reagan won the cold war.. And why he was such a great American? He did not win by putting our collective power to the solvate union... He won with an idea. If we would have used all of our power to take out the government we still couldn't have won... Because the people didn't know anything else... Reagan believed in the American idea... And he won by taking that idea to the people... He shared the American idea.... He was a brave man.. He didn't sit behind a desk plotting against the government of our enemy... He went to the haert of our enemy and stood with it's peopl... He shared our idea... And the people loved it... Then he stood side by side with the people and told the soviet government what they had to do... And they couldn't ignore it... They knew that they could never Winn against a rapidly sreading idea.
Where is the Reagan of our time??? Bush and Obama are cowards. They are fighting for oil, revenge, for the meer reason that the enemy of our enemy is our friend... We can never win like this... You cant win by defeating a government because the idea of that government still exist within it people.... We have to show them that our idea is better.. Because if we don't there won't be anything better to replace the governments that we take down....
Here is the problem how can we fight for our idea if we our selves have lost it??? Schools are not even teaching our children what the american way is any more... We are being told that we are bad for believing our own idea... Our idea isn't bad... But we are no longer fighting the battle of ideas... And it is destroying us
The media has a lot to do with this because they are destorting the american idea... And people are listening and watching... It has made us so that we don't know who we are any more... The superman thing is a huge stab in the face.... Superman is an American charichter, based on American values, fighting for the American idea.... Superman is quite possibly the most well known fictional character throuout the world... Because of what he represents.... As a fictional character he is an American because he represents our way...
The fact that he is no longer an American says 1 of 2 things.... We have changed..... Or he has change.... And it can only be option 1 because... superman is made in America..... This says somthing..... It says that we are no longer Americans... We no longer fight for the America way... And there are peopl out there fighting for an idea.... A really bad one... When our idea declines and the enemy's spreads.... They are winning
So yes this superman thing is a really important metaphor.... For how we are being viewed...
We can't just fight the symptoms... We have to get to the real problem... And that is why we are doing what we are doing.... We all know that we are doing it..
P.s. It is possible to be concerned about this issue and "more important things" at the same time.... That is the American way... Everyone dedicating themselves 100% to a single focus.... Is not

Superman is not American nor has he ever been American. The fact is that he was illegally adopted by Ma and Pa Kent and illegally granted citizenship. He has always been an illegal immigrant. No one here could legally prove Superman's citizenship for he can't legally claim it.

You forgot one option, and it is one that Superman himself brings up in the story that started all of this: The world changed. It's all well and good that we want to spread American ideals and the concept of freedom, but more has been done to spread this now than ever before through the very medium that is allowing us to hold this debate: the internet. The world wide web reaches all parts of the world, in spite of some countries attempts to stop it. The world has become a global community, and the concepts of freedom are spreading because people have new access to information and new abilities to communicate. 20 years ago, no one had ever heard of the concept of a flash mob. Now, Egypt has pretty much had a flash revolution.
You must also realize that just because Superman says he is no longer a citizen of the United States does not mean he is not advancing the cause of truth, justice and the American way. he was raised by a loving family who taught him these values from near birth (or, if you take the John Byrne approach to his origin, birth, since the birthing matrix did not open until he was in Kansas). He still stands for all of that. But Superman realizes that it can have come brutal ramifications if he was to maintain his citizenship and act as a global bastion for the ideals that he was raised with. He realizes that as a global citizen, he can still stand for his ideals without risking the country and the people who raised him to have these ideals.
