No, but I've read him in Sandman and Books of Magic, which were quite good.

I haven't read Books of Magic yet (which is surprising).
His Sandman guest appearance was fantastic. Gaiman did write a standalone Hellblazer issue which was also very fine.

On a positive note, we found a new series I should pester you about. I was afraid we had run out of those.

Hey, you challenged me.
I think I'll still end up reading BD, just so that I can have one more thing to be grumpy about.

Honestly, compared to the crap we've put up with over the years, I don't think BD is that bad. I mean, it's not good by any stretch of the imagination, but it beats out Secret Invasion and Dark Reign easily.

In comparison to BN?

BN is better.

Oy.

Though most of it comes down to the format. BD could have been condensed into a story not much longer than BN and then 80% of it wouldn't be filler. If so, I would say they were of comparable quality.
Also, BN has the bad guy pulling on all the strings. Which is kinda important, you know.

Seriously, any line Entity has, just imagine Geoff Johns is saying it. It will make a lot more sense. Holy shit, you're right. But yeah, I totally have the same complaint about the white entity. He tells characters to just do things all the time and he's vague and annoying but you figure the whole time that things will work out because he's got a plan. Only his plan doesn't make sense. It's just there to give the book some direction. However, since the direction is hollow, it leaves a really bad aftertaste when you finally realize that just about everything that happened in the book was totally irrelevant. I don't know about you but that was my justification for reading this entire series. Yes, it's mediocre but it's also the big event book right now. It will be relevant. It will be a big story that will be discussed later. But it's not. Unlike even Invasion or Legends (which didn't have sweeping changes), you can't just tell Brightest Day as a story because there is no freaking story. It's just random plot points because a white lantern said so.
