He may be the most popular X-Man of all time. He's the ol' canucklehead, the best there is at what he does and the one guy that seems to pop up every where in the Marvel Universe. He's been a mainstay of the X-Men for years and now appears in 2 Avengers titles as well. But, when did he lose his rogues gallery? I'm talking about some of his fiercest enemies from his illustrious past. Let's take a look at some of his classic enemies and their current whereabouts.
Sabretooth: Killed by Wolverine in Wolverine #55. Once Logan's fiercest rival, he was beheaded by Logan wielding the Muramasa Blade and not seen since. (Written by Jeph Loeb)
Omega Red: Another victim of Logan and the Muramasa Blade. He was killed in Wolverine Origins #39. (Written by Daniel Way)
Cyber: Last seen in Wolverine Origins #32 and suffered a heart attack. He has not been seen since. (Written by Daniel Way)
Lady Deathstrike: Was recently seen in the Uncanny X-Force .1 issue allied again with the Reavers.
Now that we've filled in a missing persons report on his villains, let's take a gander at what Wolverine has been up to lately.
Wolverine's current run by Jason Aaron has his soul being sent to Hell. In the meantime, his body has been possessed by a demon and is tormenting his friends and loved ones. Previously in the Wolverine Weapon X series we saw him take part in missions with Deathlok, being stuck in an insane asylum and taking on a group of adamantium enhanced mercenaries. No major villains played a part in any of these story arcs.
What do you think Ledgers? Have Wolverine's classic enemies gone the way of the dodo bird? Would you rather see stories like we've seen recently or Wolverine taking on actual super villains? For me, it's the latter.
