My Religious Myth Stories

I recently started writing Native Lore of the Nahua people of the Americas which basically is a group of Native who speak Nahuatl or whose language is rooted in Nahuatl regardless of tribe name.

This means that there are Natives from South to North America who fall under this classification from El Salvador, Mexico to U.S.

I wanted to write these stories due to lack of actual diversity in comics and to spread native knowledge however loosely to those who are not native blood with stories that are a mix of religious and oral myth with comic fantasy similar to how Thor was written in Marvel and also to kick down some knowledge.

I am even willing to post links of the actual native stories that i am using as my source material for those who really want to know what actually happen and am willing to answer questions on my story that people may have or be confused about.


I would like to bring my stories that i have written in another site and bring them here, i would later delete them from the original site i wrote them in as i make myself more comfortable here. I am not sure how many times i am allowed to post in succession inside a single thread let alone how many threads i can make back to back to avoid flooding or not to anger people by taking up page space.

if someone could tell me it would be helpful, i have 12 threads that currently need to be brought over to this forum.

interesting link, i didnt go for a PHD but, i did study world religions, cultures and history at a college level when i was in the military..

i'm pretty educated in that regard on knowledge and certain regional history and religious/myth.

only thing i probably ask or want to talk to him about is african creation stories since my memory has gotten hazy.

@ King - You can post as many times as you like in a single thread. We don't have much problem with having 12 separate threads, but I would ask you not to copy them all at once, but rather do it over several days, so as not to flood the new topics section and give people a chance to read them one at the time.

i have to edit anyways due to different format which allowed me to type in different fonts for each character that didnt carry over to this site

sure, i would be glad to. interesting thing of native lore is that it isnt always written down nor fixed so i can give you an academic source but it would not be any more credible then what is handed down orally from family, village, tribe story telling and there are variation of the story and reason behind certain action that people will not always agree on.. i guess that goes with all myths/religions.

Yes, in very few indigenous peoples in the Americas had writting, it's part of what led to some debate and sadly enough disrespect in anthropologists with a more Euro-centric viewpoint.

if any native legend/religion/myth has euro centric view it is Kukulcan/Quetzacoatl.

only one i know that has tried to be claimed to be Yeshua, an Apostle and placed in Mormon religion as such even Tonantzin Our Earth Mother was put in the catholic church and canonized as the virgin mary in the americas. *shake head*

believe me i have heard more disinformation and tainted views from scholars about my ancestors history and i know what is euro centric and viewing it through rose color glasses of christianity.

i understand where they might get their view but it sure shouldnt be represented as absolute fact. The original Nahua people were accused of merging the christian religion into their cultural religion for centuries even what was written down and copied by europeans who were present are ignored and dismissed...

the funny thing that some time in 2000 something the nay saying was finally silence on the creation story of the Nahua speaking ppl that was eerily similar to the christian version which finally proved pre dated christianity with a giant stone temple found in the Guatemalan jungle with the story written down in stone before europeans ever touched the americas. *Boss*

While I don't want to derail your thread since this is more for writing stories then debate (plus I have a two threads for this kind of discussion).

My point was simply about sad euro-centric views where some criteria are deemed essential to have a more "advanced" civilization. Not really about what exactly the nahuali believed and what was said about them specifically.

That said it can be a fascinating topic of discussion.

Very well, moving on.

My story will focus on the early life of my character that i hope to write up all the way to the modern time similar to Thor or Captain Marvel a mix of magic, myth background and finally a modern version of him where he will be looked at as more of a hero than a god.

I also need help coming up with a modern superhero name for the hero of my story.

he is like Thor an elemental god of Thunder, lightning overall weather, he is also the son of Mother Earth and is considered a Lord of Light as the son of the chief god of his pantheon who is God of Heaven and considered the creator of the Universe.

a more modern name none stereotypical or insulting to native culture..

this is a guy who is basically a regular Joe


i like him to have a cool sounding heroic name possibly tied to his power not necessarily named in Nahuatl but to reflect the modern time he lives in and the people around him.
