Have you ever had your hopes up for a series and been left feeling extremely disappointed? Maybe it was the art that was bad, the writing sucked, it was littered with PIS or just the overall product.
Discuss here.

The new direction for Wonder Woman and Power Girl are top rankers. The new direction for Wolverine is not selling me that much either.

Odyssey Wonder Woman and Brightest Day are two that come to mind from recent works.

Shadowland springs to mind. So much potential.

I wouldn't call it a disappointment, seeing that it was a masterful run overall, but JMS's Thor could have ended at a better note. Likewise for Bru's Daredevil. Even though those are minor complaints in otherwise great stories.

Someone made a joke about how DC keeps pretending the series has something important in store for the universe, the readers just need to be patient and keep buying the issues.

Well the last issue came and went, and it's still completely pointless.
But for me, Blackest Night was more disappointing. Brightest Day, I knew would to suck based on what Blackest Night was, but BN I truly had hopes for. I though we were going to get another Sinestro Corps War, instead we got... Well fuck.
Also, Chaos War.

I concur about Chaos War. Both CW and Prince of Power could have been the 9 final issues of Incredible Hercules and no one would have complained. In fact, it would have made a lot more sense. Nearly all the other players were redundant.
BN is indeed a disappointment but it still had a relatively strong first half that makes the event worth a look. But it's quite clear that by the end of it all. Geoff hadn't planned how to really end it. The final issue reads more like BD Prelude than a conclusion to such a big event in itself.

I agree with all the votes for Shadowland, Blackest Night, Infinite Crisis and I'll throw in Rebirth (Flash). Not that it was bad per se I just expected a hell of a lot more. While I also enjoyed Reign in Hell (yeah I was the one), it was a bit rushed. To have been really good it needed another 4 or 5 issues to flesh it out (or all the back up feature for Dr Occult that could have been anywhere else).

He doesn't end things. He has treated everything he's written post Infinite Crisis as one continuous comic book which just keep going and going and going. Indeed, his endings would make perfect sense in an ongoing series, but he keeps insisting to write huge ass events which need a clear cut beginning and end, and he's just not giving it to them. I think our approval of Geoff Johns would go way up if he just focused on weaving an ongoing story again.

Maybe because I read them long after they concluded.I liked Reign in Hell (and so did Phantom, who recommended it to me). It's difficult for me not to like anything Giffen has written. Even his joke books read better than the best work of lesser writers. Indeed. He was kinda doing this at first during GL (even though hints and plot points for SCW were set from Rebirth, even), building a greater story but providing each 4-5 storyarc with a standalone beginning/middle/ending of its own. Now it's nigh impossible to jump in and get a grasp of what the heck is going on.

Shadowland without a doubt. I remember when I first started readin' it, I said, "the only thing that'll make this a bad story is if Daredevil turns out to be possessed." Next issue, "Crud, Daredevil's possessed." It just completely cheapened everything that Matt did. After that event was over, I took a long break from Daredevil. Shoot, I'm still on that break. After I get done with my other stuff, I'll probably come back. Catch up on some trades when they come out.

I agree.I didn't like the possession idea.I liked the idea of Shadowland better before I found out about that.I also didn't like how it ended or how NOTHING happened in the tie-ins.Some of the tie-ins didn't even deal with the actual story.

Maybe because I read them long after they concluded.[/i] [/quote] Well I didn't really expect much from Beyond..I would have liked to have seen Firebird and Medusa do more because they I like both characters and they don't really get to do anything half the time.I expect great things from all Marvel's Major events.I thought Siege was when Marvel was going to finally pick it up.At the time it came out I was damn near hating Marvel. So when Siege came and went I was so disappointed. They completely ruined Sentry (whom you know is a fav of mine) the ending was sh#t, as usual with Marvel events and there was loads of PIS and jobbing.House of M wasn't a bad series I just didn't like the result.Killing off the mutant population is bad for Marvel because it's just about the only original way Marvel has come up with for character to have powers.
