Maybe, it's mostly because Digimon had real main villains.

Digimon was my go-to everything. The first thing I ever wrote about seriously, the first thing I drew--after DBZ and Gundam, and the first time I thought 'mon's were cool. I'd used to go to the digidex and digimon wiki all the time.
