The Reptile Brain: Secret Six 25-29
This trade paperback begins with Bane & Jeannette's new team on their first mission together. Along with their new teammates King Shark, Dwarfstar, Giganta and Lady Vic they're quickly recruited for another mission by a governement operative named Spy Smasher. They're sent on a mission to Skartaris which is a world similar to Marvel's Savage Land. It's complete with indigenous tribes, prehistoric wildlife and plenty of scantily clad native women.
The rest of the Six, Catman, Deadshot, Scandal, Ragdoll & Black Alice are recruited by a woman named Tremor (on behalf of Amanda Waller) to take out Bane's team in Skartaris. The two teams have a heated battle before they part ways again. Each team then sides with a local warring faction and we get a big brawl complete with dinosaurs, medieval weapons and even a local warlord who transforms himself into a giant serpent. The mission ends before both teams kill each other and Amanda Waller gives the Six full pardons and amnesty for their previous crimes.
Action Comics #896 & Secret Six #29 written by Paul Cornell & gail Simone
This is a two part story that highlights a conflict between Lex Luthor and Vandal Savage. The Secret Six are recruited by Lex. We get some tidbits of Vandal's origin which is one of the highlights of this story. I haven't been reading Action Comics so I can't really say what's been going on with Lex in that book.
Thoughts:
Another fun trade ffor the Six and for $14.95 you can't really go wrong. Their stories are pretty off the wall and this one is no different. Simone really does a great job with these characters and their relationships with each other.
