Panel 1:
Show a close up of Slaughter’s black glove holding a remote control (nothing too complicated, several buttons (as if to control the functions of the entire room)).
SLAUGHTER: So, Captain.
Panel 2:
Show Slaughter pressing a button on the remote.
SFX: BEET
SLAUGHTER: Would you say that you CARE that I just murdered Auger? That I’ve told you my true identity?
Panel 3:
Punisher’s face. The expression you’d expect: a grimace.
PUNISHER: I’m going to kill you.
Page 2
Panel 1:
Show Slaughter, and behind Slaughter, a miniature monitor is lowering from the ceiling.
SLAUGHTER: You’re so predictable it hurts.
Panel 2:
Show the monitor, with static.
SLAUGHTER: You aren’t even wondering about the satellite Auger mentioned, are you?
Panel 3:
Show the monitor, but with the real time aerial (as if taken from above) image of the Castle family grave site. One tombstone, with Maria, Frank Jr, and Lisa’s names there.
SLAUGHTER: You should be.
Page 3
Panel 1:
SILENT. Close up of Punisher’s eyes. Absolute hatred and anger.
Panel 2:
Slaughter’s mouth, a slight smile.
SLAUGHTER: Before I tell you about the view, I’d better tell you how I came back…
Page 4
Panel 1:
Slaughter’s face, side view.
SLAUGHTER: It may sound silly to you, but when I was at Valley Forge with you, I always pictured coming home on a big, freedom bird….
Panel 2:
Slaughter’s face, side view, he’s looking up slightly (as if nostalgic).
SLAUGHTER: Cold beer, sexy flight attendants….all those immature fantasies.
Panel 3:
Flashback to “Punisher: Born”, show Stevie Goodwin looking on at fellow members of Captain Castle’s platoon, Angel (the lone African American on the team) next to him.
SLAUGHTER: Then the more realistic ones. A wife who would be looked upon as the most amazing woman alive, sons who would grow as tall as giants…… in hindsight, it wasn’t realistic, but the basic idea is what counts.
Page 5
Panel 1:
Front view of Slaughter, his arms crossed as he looks upward slightly.
SLAUGHTER: Bottom line: I wanted OUT of that hellhole. Everyone did.
Panel 2:
Front view of Punisher. He’s looking straight at Slaughter.
SLAUGHTER(From off panel): Well…almost everyone.
Page 6
Panel 1:
Flashback to “Punisher: Born” again, show Goodwin bayonetted on that stormy night.
SLAUGHTER: And oh, did I get out.
Panel 2:
Flashback to “Punisher: Born”, during Goodwin’s post death experience/hallucination. He’s on a glowing, perfect airplane, with a cold bottle of beer presented before him by attractive flight attendants.
SLAUGHTER: And it was…. Beautiful.
Panel 3:
Show an airplane explode in midair (the “big blue freedom bird” Goodwin dreamt about).
SLAUGHTER: My experience turned ugly, shortly after. I had no idea what was going on.
Page 7
Panel 1:
Show a squad of soldiers escorting a bloodied and burnt Captain Castle to a helicopter, while medics pick up the scattered dead American soldiers. Goodwin’s body is visible. But it’s being dragged off by a scaly hand. Goodwin’s face is still smiling.
SLAUGHTER: You see, most of the bodies got home and buried just fine.
SLAUGHTER: Not mine.
Panel 2:
Show a mutated and small framed man, with scales all over his body, dragging Goodwin’s body into the jungle, which is partially burning.
SLAUGHTER: Mine was taken.
Panel 3:
Show the scaly man opening a secret hatch and tossing Goodwin’s body down.
SLAUGHTER: As crazy as the world is today, you don’t think there were any superhumans or mad scientists back in Vietnam, Captain?
Page 8
Panel 1:
Show a syringe with a black substance inside.
SLAUGHTER: His name was Dr. Stein.
SLAUGHTER: He wasn’t Vietnamese, obviously; no he was working on his own and had picked Vietnam as the ideal location. He was a white man, a scientist who wanted to end death itself.
SLAUGHTER: Make an army of super soldiers that were already dead and couldn’t die again. Conquer the world. The usual garbage.
SLAUGHTER: And that’s not even the craziest part of the story.
Panel 2:
Show a gloved hand grabbing onto the syringe and injecting it into Goodwin’s arm.
DR. STEIN(From off panel): Our first test subject.
SLAUGHTER: You see, he had this serum. He called it the “Necro Super Soldier” serum.
Panel 3:
Show Goodwin in his post death fantasy, falling down to Earth, on fire and screaming.
SLAUGHTER: After a horrible experience in the afterlife, I woke up.
Page 9
Panel 1:
Goodwin sitting up on a lab table, still in his blood covered clothes from Valley Forge, screaming.
SLAUGHTER: It worked.
Panel 2:
Show Goodwin grabbing Dr. Stein by the neck and squeezing it. Dr. Stein’s eyes are visibly red and bleeding.
SLAUGHTER: Too well. Oh, and there was an unexpected side effect.
SLAUGHTER: Here’s a hint: If the good doctor had used this widespread, he may well have caused the apocalypse.
SLAUGHTER: Instead, just me.
Panel 3:
Slaughter’s face. He’s got a casual look.
SLAUGHTER: You don’t care enough to guess, so I’ll just say it.
Page 10
Panel 1:
Show Dr. Stein flying back into a wall, his eyes missing from his head, blood spurting out of the holes, along with blood coming out of his nose and ears. His neck is two sizes too small and his head is puffed up.
SLAUGHTER: Aside from the strength – totally expected – I had an undying need.
SLAUGHTER: An everlasting hunger.
Panel 2:
Show Goodwin standing over Dr. Stein’s body and glaring down at it. Goodwin’s body is more bulked than before, but he’s not overbulked (more like Punisher’s current build).
SLAUGHTER: I HAD to end life. I had to see blood. I had to hear dying breath.
Panel 3:
Show Goodwin in the flashback grabbing a pistol.
SLAUGHTER: I didn’t even know who I was for the first few years.
Page 11
Panel 1:
Show Goodwin in some all black costume (similar to his right now, but without a skull) gunning down a village in a 3rd world country (doesn’t matter, long as its not on the Western hemisphere).
SLAUGHTER: I just killed. And killed. And killed. And killed.
SLAUGHTER: I didn’t age. I didn’t die.
Panel 2:
Show Goodwin sitting at a table in broad daylight (some café), looking at a newspaper. The headline: “FRANK CASTLE IS BACK IN THE BLOOD”.
SLAUGHTER: I know you probably won’t think this is as amazing as I do, but that was the first time I bothered setting up shot in a proper town, and not some godforsaken jungle. That was the first newspaper I had read – in English – in YEARS.
SLAUGHTER: Any other time I’d seen one, I had ignored it. But you were on the page, folded up by the nice waitress that I killed a few seconds later.
SLAUGHTER: And it had news that you weren’t dead. That some idiot named Norman Osborn hadn’t killed you like they thought.
Panel 3:
Show Goodwin flipping the table over and having a fit of rage.
SLAUGHTER: It all came rushing back. All at once.
Panel 4:
Show Goodwin tossing aside a police officer like a rag doll.
SLAUGHTER: You, my Captain, had lived through Vietnam – and become a symbol of everything that I used to hate. I, in my time there, believed in “the REAL America” – you were everything I hated back then. And it all sloshed in my mind and ripped me apart.
Page 12
Panel 1:
Show Goodwin glancing at Punisher’s picture on the paper, at the white skull, as he paints his own black skull. He’s doing this in a dark living space, with just a lamp showing him at his work desk. There’s money EVERYWHERE.
SLAUGHTER: So, I used all the money I had gotten from mercenary and assassin works.
SLAUGHTER: All that useless cash that I just spent on food. See, I’d never buy guns. Borrowing. Saves money. That’s besides the point.
SLAUGHTER: I used all that money and bought my way back home. Bought my way back to you. Bought the LMD. Bought Fisk’s use of this room and his Hobgoblin and his ninjas. Bought Mr. Negative using Auger as a disguise, seeing as I didn’t want him discovering that one man was playing with him AND Fisk, his rival in the business.
Panel 2:
Slaughter looking at the monitor.
SLAUGHTER: That first call from “Auger” was me.
SLAUGHTER: The second, about Carnage, was him. And onward.
SLAUGHTER: I thought, since he left me, I thought he could act on his own – do his own little heroism thing with you. It wouldn’t matter.
SLAUGHTER: So, being a good friend, I told him about our first call; and he acted accordingly.
Panel 3:
Show Punisher.
PUNISHER: I don’t give a @%#%. Why is there a view of my family?
Panel 4:
Show Slaughter looking at Punisher.
SLAUGHTER: Because, Captain Castle, you’re not The Punisher yet. Not really.
SLAUGHTER: You killing the reanimated Maria; that was close. But not enough.
SLAUGHTER: No, you’re still in Vietnam in your own mind. The only difference is that the enemy’s changed. You still have a family to go back too, one way or the other.
Page 13
Panel 1:
Show Punisher’s face.
SLAUGHTER(from off panel): A little while ago, you had your associate Henry Russo train a satellite at their grave, to evaporate anyone dumb enough to touch their graves again.
SLAUGHTER(from off panel): So, I had Auger hack it for me. I had him kept unaware through a program that blocks the results of the hack.
Panel 2:
Show the monitor.
SLAUGHTER: He didn’t even know what he was hacking. Poor #$^$. If only he knew now what he’d help me accomplish. Again, I digress.
Panel 3:
Slaughter taking out another remote, far more complicated.
SLAUGHTER: I’m going to turn the remains of your family into nothingness. I’m going to evaporate the entire graveyard, Captain.
Page 14
Panel 1:
Show Punisher’s eyes. Shock.
Panel 2:
Show Slaughter, putting the monitor/room remote in a pocket and reaching his finger for a button on the satellite remote.
SLAUGHTER: Once they’re dead, Frank Castle will be as well.
SLAUGHTER: Then, you’ll just be The Punisher. For real, this time.
SLAUGHTER: Then I’ll kill him.
SLAUGHTER: Then, I’ll BECOME him. I’ll take that title. And I’ll fire this satellite at some key points. Maybe start World War 3. Maybe just end it all, right away. I hear there’s a large hadron collider being made. I wonder what would happen if I fired at that? Black holes seem pretty efficient.
Panel 3:
Slaughter’s finger hitting the button.
SFX: BEET
SLAUGHTER: This world doesn’t deserve to live on unpunished anyway.
SLAUGHTER: It’s just a @#%#ing waste.
Page 15
BIG IMAGE: Show a satellite in orbit with a large rifle-like design at the end firing a single beam.
Page 16

CAPTION(Punisher): I hear Maria sob.
Panel 2:
Show Punisher’s face. Indescribable rage.
CAPTION(Punisher): I hear the children cry out.
Panel 3:
Show Slaughter looking at Punisher, as Punisher is trying his hardest to get out of the chair.
CAPTION(Punisher): They’re gone forever from this Earth. And their memory with them.
CAPTION(Punisher): They’re crying and screaming. Burning alive. Bullets twisting their flesh into bits of pulp and regret and horror.
Page 18
Panel 1:
Side view. Slaughter stepping back and looking at Punisher with awe.
SLAUGHTER(small text): Nice to meet you… Punisher…
CAPTION(Punisher): And then there’s nothing left.
CAPTION(Punisher): They turn into pure white static on a monitor.
Panel 2:
Show Punisher ripping out of the metal restraints. The most angry expression of all time.
CAPTION(Punisher): And I’ll never see them again.
CAPTION(Punisher): Those illusions of a reunion disappear along with the particles of their tombstone.
Panel 3:
Show Slaughter hitting the wall behind him in a specific area (like a secret button).
SFX: BEET
Page 19
Panel 1:
Show a large room, well furnished, probably on a high level of Fisk tower. The wall is opening and Slaughter is walking backwards out of the room. Punisher follows.
CAPTION(Punisher): And I couldn’t care less anymore.
Panel 2:
Show Slaughter cracking his knuckles.
SLAUGHTER: Ready, Punisher?
Panel 3:
Show Punisher’s hand grabbing onto Slaughter’s face.
Panel 4:
Show Punisher shoving Slaughter’s head into the wall next to the door, creating a dent in the wall.
SFX: BSHKKT
PUNISHER: An adrenaline rush in mothers allows them to lift cars to save their children.
PUNISHER: You just evaporated my family.
