Part One: The Mission
Space sector 2814: Seven-Earth Months ago:
Abin Sur flies his ship to Earth, all the while hearing his prisoner, Atrocitus rambling. A voice comes on a screen.
"Abin, I don't think this is I good idea--"
"Quiet, Tomar, I can handle myself."
"But taking Atrocitus--"
"He will be in chains as he shows me what lies in Earth's core. Abin Sur out."
The voice vanishes into static. Atrocitus starts talking.
"You were afraid of what I told you all thos years ago. Your ring will fail you. Your time has come."
"Green Lanterns overcome fear."
"I don't think you can. You are afraid of me...release me from your construct."
"I-I'm n-not afraid."
suddenly, the construct fades.
"FREE!" Atroicuts smashes the controls and rips out random cords.
"NO!" Abin shouts, and blasts him with a surge of green energy, sending him flying into a wall.
"I WILL BURN YOU.!"
Abin puts up a shield to protect himself from Atrocitus, but it soon shatters, Atrocitus' claws dig deeps through Abin's flesh. Abin struggles to hold in his organs. He blasts one last burst of energ, which is dodged easily by Atrocitus, as he makes way for the teleportation system. He teleports out of the sector.
"R-ring," Abin says. "Locate a sentient replacement."
Earth:
Hal Jordan flies his aircraft for Carol Ferris. Her voice speaks over an intercom.
"How's she doing?"
"She flies like a beauty. I love it..uh oh."
"What."
"There's something wrong with that ship, it's going haywire! I can't control it!...oh God..."
"Hal?"
"I-I'm gonna crash."
"HAL!"
Abin Sur's ship:
Abin sees the replacment.
"Ironic, my ship is crashing just like his, and it is through my ring alone that he will survive."
With a boom, Abin's ship crashes.
Earth:
Hal's ship is surrounded by a Green Light. Carol Ferris sees it.
"What is it, Hal?"
"I-I have no idea, it's taking me somewhere."
Abin Sur's ship:
Hal sees the ship, and crawls through the wreckage. He is taken aback as a green burst of energy gives him a way to enter the ship.
"What is you're name, Earthman?"
"Hal. Hal Jordan."
"Take this ring..." Abin coughs up blood.
"W-who are you."
"A Green Lantern. I guard your planet and it's sector with my life...which will be taken soon...the...ring...has chosen you. Take it...and become...
A GREEN LANTERN!"
Sector 2814: Now:
Seven months to the day Hal has been Green Lantern. He has been told everything. He is currently arresting the Sinestro Corps member of Sector 2814.
"You'll never take me, Lantern!" He blasts yellow light at him.
Hal puts up a shield, and hit him with a boxing glove. The alien screams in pain. He sends yellow "sharp energy" at Hal, who is cut. He then makes a knife construct and goes to stab Hal. A voice comes through his ring.
"Lethal force has now been enabled."
"Thanks, ring, but I won't need it."
Hal makes a construct that covers the Sinestro Corps member in a shadow.
"W-what is it?"
Hal sends the construct down...it makes a "wirring" sound as the blades spin. the alien is left with a deep gash on his stomach.
"On Earth, we call it a can opener." Hal smiles. The joy is cut short by an all too familiar voice on his ring.
"HEY POOZER! REPORT BACK TO OA FOR ANOTHER MISSION."
"Hal flies back to Oa, sighing. "Yes, Kilowog."
Oa:
Kilowog quizzes him before his mission. "You know of all the lantern Corps?"
"Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Inigo, and Violet, each one represents a certain emotion."
"You know who Sinestro is?"
"Once a Green Lantern. Taught my predecessor, Abin Sur. He eventually was discovered by Abin and was banished to the antimatter universe of Qward."
"You know who Parallax is?"
"The yellow impurity, once inside the power battery. A possessing entity of fear that takes control of it's host. Freed during the Sinestro Corps war, current wareabouts are unknown."
"Now for your mission. Sinestro has intel that says that Parallax is on Qward. Sinestro and his Corps is looking for it. We also have intel that the Red Lantern Corps is looking for it too. Both only have small squads, but if they realize it's value, they'll be sending more. We're going to be sending a ragtag team to find it first."
"Why do they want Parallax?"
"Whoever control's Parallax, whether they are in the entity or someone else, Parallax is omnipotent. It has the powers to destroy all other Corps'."
"We're sending you and a few others to find Parallax before Sinestro's Corps or the Red Lanterns do."
Part Two: The Mission Begins:
Oa:
Kilowog and Hal Jordan walk through the halls of Oa to meet their teammates. Hal finally decides to break the silence.
“Sooo, Kilowog, who are we taking with us to retrieve Parallax?”
“You, me, Ch’p, Tomar Re, Kraken, Kreon, Horoq Nnot , and a bunch of other rookies.”
“Why are we bringing rookies?”
“It’s part of the Guardian’s plan. If we bring people with a low profile, the other Corps’ won’t get suspicious.”
“Nice plan.”
They all meet in one spot, and Kilowog says a few words into his ring.
“Ring, take us to Qward.”
There’s a beam of light, and suddenly a pop and a sizzle.
“What’s going on?” one person asks.
“Someone sabotaged my ring!” Kilowog says. “We’re landing in the middle of a…”
Qward:
They appear in a crater surrounded by Qwardians.
“…trap. GET YER SHIELDS UP POOZERS!”
Everyone does as told, except Horoq Nnot. She leaps into action.
“Screw that, I’m fighting some Qwardians!”
“Horoq, NO!”
A few seconds after letting her shield down, she is immediately hit with a bolt of energy. Everyone stares, aghast. Her ring speaks.
“Ring status report, Green Lantern deceased. Initiating replacement. Teleportation needed.”
Kilowog’s voice booms.
“GET INTA ACTION YA POOZERS!”
Everyone follows orders.
“Back to back, Hal yells to Kreon. Kreon does so, and lets out a wide beam. Everyone hears a voice in their rings.
“Lethal force is now enabled.”
Hal creates a construct, and deflects bolts of energy.
“Always wanted a light saber.”
“A what?”
“Nothing, never mind.
Ch’p is surrounded by a group of Qwardians.
“Look at the rabbit. KILL IT!”
Ch’p let’s out a beam that goes in a circle, slicing them all.
“It’s a squirrel, to you.”
Kraken’s warrior instincts take hold. She creates sword and knife constructs and begins to fight and kill the Qwardians with it. She and Kreon tend to rely and their military skill to win their battles.
Kilowog shoots energy more powerful than anyone else. He fries the Qwardians in an instant.
“Hold the line, Poozers, don’t let any of them get away, or they’ll be reporting to Sinestro.”
Hal notices a few rookies having trouble creating a shield. They’re about to be hit by energy bolts, when Hal dives in front of them and creates a shield.
“C’mon rookies, show me some Green!” The rookies begin to fight back, but before Hal notices it, they are fried by Qwardians’ beams.
Tomar Re prefers a more subtle form of combat. He creates a giant green fish like creature and uses it as a train to bowl over the Qwardians.
Ch’p actually does create a train and uses it to bowl over Qwardians.
Kreon creates a sword and is able to fight off a few Qwardians. Soon a few surround him, when they are met by beams of energy to the head. Kraken saves them.
Kilowog has had enough. His voice booms across the field.
“CLEAR THE CRATER, I’M TAKIN’ CARE OF THESE POOZERS MYSELF!”
Everyone listens to Kilowog. A few rookies are fried since they can’t find the willpower to fly. One rookie actually makes it off the ground only to be fried by Qwardians.
Kilowog hits the crater with a wide beam and fries all the Qwardians.
All the lanterns regroup. Kilowog is the first to speak.
“Ya did well, poozers, but ya left a few for dead.”
An unseen person shouts.
“THE DEAD ARE THE LEAST OF YOUR WORRIES.
A rookie falls to the ground, dead. Hal leans down and looks at the wound.
“Claws. Ring, scan for voice signature.”
“Voice signature: Red Lantern known as ‘Vice.’”
Suddenly, vice jumps out of the darkness
“I’LL KILL YOU ALL!”
“Looks like we got trouble.” Says Tomar.
Part Three: endless rage:
"Looks like we’ve got trouble.” says Tomar.
“Master Atrocitus does not want anyone finding Parallax. Vice throws up a burst of acid blood. Everyone puts their shields up…except for the rookies. They are instantly killed. Their rings speak.
“Status report: Green Lantern deceased, locating sentient replacement. Teleportation needed.”
Vice grabs Ch’p and teleports. A few seconds later he reappears with the acid blood all over him.
“Ring.” says Kraken, “Scan for life.”
“Life signs: negative.”
“Ch’p!”shouts Kreon.
Vice drops from above, grabs Tomar Re, and teleports with his ring.
Elsewhere:
Tomar is immediately hit several times by Vice. He then kicks him, breaking his ribs.
“Kill.” says Vice. He blasts him with his ring.
Tomar puts up a shields, and blasts before Vice can gain an advantage.
“That’s for Ch’p!”
Vice runs at Tomar and slams into him. Tomar hit him back.
“I am the keeper of the book of Oa. I will survive!” He then creates a construct of the book of Oa, and slams it shut on Vice.
This only further enrages Vice who then stabs him through the heart, and he falls over, dead.
Qward:
“Where is he?” asks Kilowog.
“I don’t know! Says Kraken, all I know is I want the little **** dead!”
In a flash, Tomar’s dead body falls to the ground. Vice takes Kraken.
“If you want to fight me, all you had to do was ask.”
Elsewhere:
Kraken instinctively creates two knife constructs.
Taken by surprise, Vice hits Kraken in the face, then stomps on her as she is on the ground. Her nose is broken. She immediately gets up and stabs Vice through the heart.
“I have no heart.” He says. “I only have rage, the ring keeps me alive.” He upper cuts Kraken with a construct, then ties a grenade construct to her head.
Qward:
“Where is that little ****” says Kreon! “I’LL KILL HIM FOR THIS!”
“He killed two of our guys, I say we kill him.” says Kilowog.
“Better make it three.” Hal says, as Kraken’s headless body falls to the ground.
Vice jumps through the air and grabs Kreon. He goes to teleport when he is suddenly struck by Kilowog’s beam.
“Dead.” says Vice.
He runs to Kilowog, dodging or ignoring all beams of energy. He jumps in the air and pukes acid blood on Kilowog’s face, scarring him. Hal notices that his ring hasn’t left him, so he must be alive. Hal shoots a few energy blasts at Vice.
Vice stares at him intently, points his ring sideways, and kills Kreon.
This act angers Hal. He and Kreon were friends. He even trained him. Hal screams as he lets out his most powerful energy blast he has yet done. Vice is weakened, but not down. He runs to him and slams him to the ground. The two roll in the dirt, fighting each other. Hal is consumed with rage.
“JUST DIE YOU MURDERER!” They fall into a ditch. Only one comes out alive.
“Status report: Red Lantern deceased, initiating replacement scan. Teleportation needed.
Hal climbs out of the ditch, his uniform torn. While they fell into the ditch, Hal had snapped Vice’s neck.
Kilowog comes to.
“What happened, poozer?”
“We’re the only one’s alive.”
“And Vice?”
“I killed him.”
Suddenly, in a flash of light, the Guardians appear. “Kilowog, you are to come with us, Lantern Jordan is to finish to mission himself.”
“ Why?”
“You are attracting too much attention. Most of your team is dead. Take the bodies and come with us.”
“Kilowog did as told, he turned around to Hal and said one last thing too him.
“Sorry poozer, good luck.”
Oa:
The Guardians talk about the subject.
“Should we tell Kilowog of our plans?”
“No, he is a friend of Jordan’s. This would just enrage him.”
“He mustn’t know that the other Corps will bicker among each other, and we’re to go in just before the winner takes Parallax.”
“And what of Jordan?”
“He is our cover. Most Lanterns will see what Vice did to Kilowog and presume he is dead. Jordan us supposedly the only survivor. He is to cover up our true meaning. I doubt he will survive all this. Besides….
…he is the most expendable Lantern we have.
Part Four: Ten To One:
After days of searching Qward, Hal felt he was going insane. On the fifth day of searching for Parallax, Hal felt like he had been in the antimatter universe for years. He finally had some interaction with somebody when the ring gave him a warning.
“WARNING: Sinestro Corps members approaching.”
“How many?”
“Ten. A scout troop.”
“Cloak me.” the ring did as told, making Hal invisible.
Hal recognized most of the members of the scout troop from training. Arkillo, The Sinestro Corps’ trainer. Kind of like Kilowog. Bedovian, the Sinestro Corps’ sniper. Amon Sur, the Sinestro Corpsman of sector 2814. Tri Eye, who almost made Hal throw up just looking at him, Karu Sil, who’s wolf pack was killed by a Green Lantern, she’s been hunting them ever since, Romat Ru, the same species as Tomar. Slushh, who was a green pile of bones, he is often mistaken for a Green Lantern in battle. Smithwick, who is the same species as Salaak. Kryb, the baby stealer, and Enkafos the tactician.
They were about to fly by him when Arkillo stopped them.
“Wait!” He says. “I smell….something.”
“I taste it.” Bedovian says.
They use their rings to find Hal, it hit him and Hal uncloaks.
“A Green Lantern! Says Enkafos.
Instinctively, Hal blasts his ring, Enkafos is hit. He falls to the ground. (Hal always thought he was to weak to be a member of the Sinestro Corps.
Arkillo blasts Hal, as he falls into a ditch. Smithwick and Slushh, go to shoot him. Hal hits Smithwick with a boxing glove construct, but he blocks. Slushh fires at him, and Hal creates a construct that sends his blast flying back at him.
“Lethal force is now enabled.” says his ring.
Hal blasts the two with a magnificent burst of green light
When the dust settles, both weakly get up. Hal hits Smithwick with energy, then turns to Slushh.
“Slushh, right?” says Hal. He hits him with a fly swatter construct. “You’re slush.”
Hal flies up in the air to meet Romat Ru. The two’s ring make contact. Tri Eye, ad Karu Sil go to attack.
“No!” shouts Arkillo. “It’s matter vs. antimatter. We’ll die!”
Romat and Hal go flying backwards. Only Hal gets up, miraculously.
Though he is pushed back down by the rings of Karu Sil, Kryb, and Tri Eye.” Hal puts up a shield.
“Ring.” He says, teleport me.”
The ring teleports him out, and Hal shatters his construct to make it look like it caved in. After a few minutes, Tri Eye says
“He can’t be alive.”
Hal sneaks up behind them and cuts off oxygen until they pass out.
Hal is then hit from behind by Bedovian. Hal takes a while to notice him, but once he does, he goes into his shell…which is exactly what Hal wants. Hal grabs his shell and throws it at Arkillo, who was about to attack.
Arkillo throws and unconscious Bedovian off of him.
“You put up a good fight….for a human.”
“It’s this human that’s going to kick you’re a**!”
Angered, Arkillo shoots energy at him. Hal dodges.
“You were able to smell me, right. I’m betting you’re sensitive to smells? Hal takes a construct and put it in Arkillo’s nostril’s, he screams in pain.
“I think that’s a yes.” He vibrates the constructs. Arkillo passes out.
The ring speaks.
“WARNING: Power levels approaching zero point zero percent.”
Amon Sur steps out of the shadows.
“I’ve been waiting.”
“Waiting till the rest were down to take me on, smart, yet just like your Corps color: yellow.”
Enraged, Amon shoots beams of energy at Hal, who is hit by it. He dodges the others.
“You know, I’m not just all….” he says, dodging Amon’s blasts, “ring slinging, and flying. Hal creeps up behind Amon, and punches his back, he bends backwards, as Hal takes out his legs.
“Sometimes, I’ve got to improvise”
Hal twists Amon’s arm behind his back and chokes him. Amon throws himself back slams his head into Hal’s, resulting in Hal hitting his head on the ground.
“Stop fighting!” Hal says. “It’ll all be over soon.”
Amon tries to fight, but Hal swing hi sideways and throws his head into the ground. He falls unconscious.
“Finally.” Hal says. “I can recharge.” He calls his lantern from a pocket dimension. And says the oath.
“In brightest day,
In blackest night
No evil shall escape my sight!
Let those who worship evil’s might
Beware my power…
….GREEN LANTERN’S LIGHT!
Hal breathes deep with renewed energy.
“Now….” he says. “I’m back in the game.”
Part Five: Crawling Through the Wreckage:
It hasn’t been long after his battle with Sinestro Corps scouts that Hal came across Red Lanterns and Sinestro Corpsmen fighting.
“Ring!” says Hal. “Scan for entities nearby.”
“Nearby entities: One: Parallax. It is across the battlefield.
“Teleport me.”
“Unable to teleport. Parallax interfering.”
“Cloaking?”
“I am unable.”
Hal guessed that it was the same for all of the people fighting, otherwise one of the groups would’ve gone invisible and taken Parallax.
“Looks like it’s up to me!”
Hal observed the battle before going in, to get a sense of how his enemy would be fighting.
He saw one Lantern shoot acid on the Sinestros, then get stabbed in the back. Another two fought, and the red lantern incinerated him. After a while of fighting, a Red Lantern noticed him.
“A Green Lantern!” she shouted.
She and a pack of other Red Lanterns headed for him
“Oh God, here comes trouble.”
One threw up acid, but Hal put up his shield. The other sliced him with his ring. The third went to take a shot at him, but Hal hit him with a giant fist construct. He fell back, unconscious. One hit him in the head, and went for a kick. Hal used his ring to grab her foot and throw her into the other one. They fell to the ground.
Hal’s ring spoke.
“Lethal force is now enabled.”
Hal flew through the battlefield. About one fourth of the way across, he was hit by a yellow beam. A Sinestro Corpsman headed for him. Hal created a shield and knight stick. The Corpsman went to punch him, but Hal moved out of the way and struck him in the back of the head with the knight stick.
He started to run across the battlefield, when he went flying in the air from and explosion. Red and Yellow working together.
“I wonder if there’s a lesson in this…” Hal said to himself.”
Hal then created a plane and threw it into the two people, they were consumed in an explosion.
Hal created a spaceship and flew across the battlefield. He shot some green missiles when he needed to, and drove through the crowd of ring slingers when that wasn’t enough.
Eventually, two enemies cracked opened his construct and entered.
Hal just waved his hand and the floor gave out from under them.
Hal then noticed something was wrong with the engine, he put up his shield just in time before his construct exploded. A Red Lantern dove at him, Hal grimaced when it sliced his torso. It went to bite him but Hal but chains around his jaw.
“I’ve had enough of you!” He threw the lantern to the ground. Finally, Hal could see he was in the clear.
He went to go to a holding cell (where his ring told him Parallax was) when he was intercepted by another Red Lantern.
“Looks like Vice didn’t finish the job.” the voice said.
Hal looked up to see Atrocitus standing over him.
“And I get the pleasure of killing Abin Sur’s successor.”
“Like HELL you do!” shouted a voice, as a yellow wall appeared in front of them.
Sinestro had found them.
“I’ll be killing Jordan AND you, then I’ll take Parallax.
“Looks like we all have the same goals.” says Atrocitus.
“Three way battle…nice!” says Hal.
Part Six: Fight for Parallax:
Atrocitus leapt into action. He punched Hal and flew at Sinestro.
“YOU’RE DEAD, SINESTRO I WILL FEAST ON YOUR RAGE!”
Sinestro hit Atrocitus with a burst of energy.
“You will not.”
Suddenly, Hal flew through the two of them, and they flew in opposite directions.
Sinestro and Atrocitus then teamed up to fight Hal. Sinestro hit him low, while Atrocitus hit him high.
Hal fell to the ground. Atrocitus screamed as he threw himself at Sinestro. He slashed his face.
He was then covered by green tongs and tossed aside.
“Neither of you are getting Parallax” said Hal. Sinestro leaps at him and hits him with a left and right cross, sparks from his ring sizzling as he punches him. Hal intercepts one punch and hit him in the stomach with a boxing glove. Hal punches Sinestro to the ground.
Atrocitus then hits Hal with red energy, and throws up acid blood on him. Hal screams in pain.
“I will eat your heart.” he says.
“Not if I can help it! Hal turns around and hits Atrocitus with a construct of a giant hammer. Atrocitus runs at him, un phased by his attack, when suddenly, a burst of yellow energy goes through Atrocitus’ heart.
“Why?” He says.
Taking advantage of the situation, Hal takes out Atrocitus’ legs.
Sinestro hits him with a few arrow constructs.
“Tell your friend Green Arrow I said hi.”
“Sure thing.” Hal emit’s a burst of energy that swings around his body like ripples in a pond. Atrocitus and Sinestro fall backwards.
Sinestro then attacks Atrocitus, and the two exchange blows. Both are bleeding, suits torn.
Hal throws a chain construct around Atrocitus’ neck, and brings him to the ground.
“YOU KILLED MY TEAMMATES!”
“Minor casualties of war.”
Hal lets out an extreme blast of energy entirely focused on Atrocitus’ face. Atrocitus grabs the chain around his neck and tugs it.
“I’LL DIE BEFORE LANTERNS PUT ME IN CHAINS AGAIN!”
“So be it!”
Hal and Atrocitus exchange blows. Hal hits him in the ribcage, followed by an uppercut.
Atrocitus blocks Hal’s next punch and claws his face. The two are about to punch each other when Hal exclaims
“WAIT!”
“What, human?”
“Where’s Sinestro?”
As if in answer a magnificent glow comes from behind them. A voice speaks in unison with Sinestro.
“I AM PARALLAX! I HAVE THE POWER OF THE ENTIRE GREEN LANTERN CORPS FROM MY DAYS INSIDE THE BATTERY! YOU TWO WILL BE MY FIRST KILL IN EONS!”
“This look bad to you?” Asks Hal.
“Yes, human, this looks very bad.”
Part Seven: Finale:
Hal and Atrocitus had been dodging Parallax’s blasts for what seemed like hours. They both witnessed Parallax’s unrelenting power.
Atrocitus had been slashing Parallax for a few minutes. He hit him with a burst of energy then puked acid blood on him. Parallax hit him with a missile. Hal grabbed Atrocitus and put a protective bubble around them. He grimaced as Parallax shot extremely powerful blasts of energy at him.
“Here’s the plan, Atrocitus: Parallax and Sinestro have a bond, right?”
“Yes.”
“So, what we’re going to do is hurt Sinestro so badly Parallax will be forced to leave him.” Hal grunted as Parallax hit his force field with more power.
“What’s to keep it from possessing one of us?”
“That’s where you come in. You need to retrieve your battery. We’re both going to imprison half of Parallax in each of our batteries. Only we will know it.”
“I’ll get it. Ring. Teleport.”
Atrocitus teleports out. The minute Hal’s shield is down he’s hit over and over with bursts of energy. Hal screams in pain. Everything gets dizzy.
Suddenly, Hal gets and idea. He shoots a microscopic beam of energy at Parallax.
Parallax laughs.
“And how is that supposed to hurt me?”
“Oh, you know…I just split an atom.”
Immediately, and atomic explosion went off. Hal put a bubble around it. He screamed with pain and rage as he tried to contain it, as he spoke to himself.
“contain it. contain it. CONTAIN IIIT!!!!!”
Finally, the explosion was over, Hal collapsed in agony. Sinestro was alive, and Parallax received the brunt of the impact.
Atrocitus came back.
“Say you’re oath!”
They both say their respective oaths.
“With blood and rage of crimson red”
“In brightest day, in blackest night.”
“Ripped from a corpse so freshly dead.”
“no evil shall escape my sight”
“Together with out hellish hate.”
“Let those who worship evil’s might”
“We’ll burn you all THAT IS YOU FATE!”
Beware my power, GREEN LANTERN’S LIGHT!”
With a scream Parallax fell into their batteries. Atrocitus turned to Hal.
“you helped save everyone, human, so I will not kill you. Instead, I will transport you to Oa.
Part Eight: Epilogue:
Oa:
Hal teleported onto Oa in a flash of light.
“POOZER?”
Hal turned around to see Kilowog.
“POOZER! YOU’RE ALIVE!” Kilowog hugged Hal.
“Good thing too.” He said “The Guardians want to see you.”
Citadel of the Guardians:
Hal walks in to the Guardian’s citadel.
“Jordan, we have questions for you--.”
“Shut up!” said Jordan. “I’ll ask the questions!”
“First of all, why the **** did you leave me to die on that suicide mission?”
“We had to cover our real reason--”
“YOU USED ME AS CANON FODDER! I’m not one who likes being played, I--”
“Enough, Jordan!” Many said together. One stepped in front of them.
“Brothers, we should not be concerned with what happened, Jordan has earned his stripes, he successfully completed his mission. I suggest we forget this.”
“Thank you, Ganthet.” Hal said.
Ganthet turned to Hal. “Lantern Jordan, there is trouble on Earth, somebody named…Hector Hammond.”
Hal flew off to Earth.

Part One: The Mission
Space sector 2814: Seven-Earth Months ago:
Abin Sur flies his ship to Earth, all the while hearing his prisoner, Atrocitus rambling. A voice comes on a screen.
"Abin, I don't think this is I good idea--"
"Quiet, Tomar, I can handle myself."
"But taking Atrocitus--"
"He will be in chains as he shows me what lies in Earth's core. Abin Sur out."
The voice vanishes into static. Atrocitus starts talking.
"You were afraid of what I told you all thos years ago. Your ring will fail you. Your time has come."
"Green Lanterns overcome fear."
"I don't think you can. You are afraid of me...release me from your construct."
"I-I'm n-not afraid."
suddenly, the construct fades.
"FREE!" Atroicuts smashes the controls and rips out random cords.
"NO!" Abin shouts, and blasts him with a surge of green energy, sending him flying into a wall.
"I WILL BURN YOU.!"
Abin puts up a shield to protect himself from Atrocitus, but it soon shatters, Atrocitus' claws dig deeps through Abin's flesh. Abin struggles to hold in his organs. He blasts one last burst of energ, which is dodged easily by Atrocitus, as he makes way for the teleportation system. He teleports out of the sector.
"R-ring," Abin says. "Locate a sentient replacement."
Earth:
Hal Jordan flies his aircraft for Carol Ferris. Her voice speaks over an intercom.
"How's she doing?"
"She flies like a beauty. I love it..uh oh."
"What."
"There's something wrong with that ship, it's going haywire! I can't control it!...oh God..."
"Hal?"
"I-I'm gonna crash."
"HAL!"
Abin Sur's ship:
Abin sees the replacment.
"Ironic, my ship is crashing just like his, and it is through my ring alone that he will survive."
With a boom, Abin's ship crashes.
Earth:
Hal's ship is surrounded by a Green Light. Carol Ferris sees it.
"What is it, Hal?"
"I-I have no idea, it's taking me somewhere."
Abin Sur's ship:
Hal sees the ship, and crawls through the wreckage. He is taken aback as a green burst of energy gives him a way to enter the ship.
"What is you're name, Earthman?"
"Hal. Hal Jordan."
"Take this ring..." Abin coughs up blood.
"W-who are you."
"A Green Lantern. I guard your planet and it's sector with my life...which will be taken soon...the...ring...has chosen you. Take it...and become...
A GREEN LANTERN!"
Sector 2814: Now:
Seven months to the day Hal has been Green Lantern. He has been told everything. He is currently arresting the Sinestro Corps member of Sector 2814.
"You'll never take me, Lantern!" He blasts yellow light at him.
Hal puts up a shield, and hit him with a boxing glove. The alien screams in pain. He sends yellow "sharp energy" at Hal, who is cut. He then makes a knife construct and goes to stab Hal. A voice comes through his ring.
"Lethal force has now been enabled."
"Thanks, ring, but I won't need it."
Hal makes a construct that covers the Sinestro Corps member in a shadow.
"W-what is it?"
Hal sends the construct down...it makes a "wirring" sound as the blades spin. the alien is left with a deep gash on his stomach.
"On Earth, we call it a can opener." Hal smiles. The joy is cut short by an all too familiar voice on his ring.
"HEY POOZER! REPORT BACK TO OA FOR ANOTHER MISSION."
"Hal flies back to Oa, sighing. "Yes, Kilowog."
Oa:
Kilowog quizzes him before his mission. "You know of all the lantern Corps?"
"Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Inigo, and Violet, each one represents a certain emotion."
"You know who Sinestro is?"
"Once a Green Lantern. Taught my predecessor, Abin Sur. He eventually was discovered by Abin and was banished to the antimatter universe of Qward."
"You know who Parallax is?"
"The yellow impurity, once inside the power battery. A possessing entity of fear that takes control of it's host. Freed during the Sinestro Corps war, current wareabouts are unknown."
"Now for your mission. Sinestro has intel that says that Parallax is on Qward. Sinestro and his Corps is looking for it. We also have intel that the Red Lantern Corps is looking for it too. Both only have small squads, but if they realize it's value, they'll be sending more. We're going to be sending a ragtag team to find it first."
"Why do they want Parallax?"
"Whoever control's Parallax, whether they are in the entity or someone else, Parallax is omnipotent. It has the powers to destroy all other Corps'."
"We're sending you and a few others to find Parallax before Sinestro's Corps or the Red Lanterns do."
Part Two: The Mission Begins:
Oa:
Kilowog and Hal Jordan walk through the halls of Oa to meet their teammates. Hal finally decides to break the silence.
“Sooo, Kilowog, who are we taking with us to retrieve Parallax?”
“You, me, Ch’p, Tomar Re, Kraken, Kreon, Horoq Nnot , and a bunch of other rookies.”
“Why are we bringing rookies?”
“It’s part of the Guardian’s plan. If we bring people with a low profile, the other Corps’ won’t get suspicious.”
“Nice plan.”
They all meet in one spot, and Kilowog says a few words into his ring.
“Ring, take us to Qward.”
There’s a beam of light, and suddenly a pop and a sizzle.
“What’s going on?” one person asks.
“Someone sabotaged my ring!” Kilowog says. “We’re landing in the middle of a…”
Qward:
They appear in a crater surrounded by Qwardians.
“…trap. GET YER SHIELDS UP POOZERS!”
Everyone does as told, except Horoq Nnot. She leaps into action.
“Screw that, I’m fighting some Qwardians!”
“Horoq, NO!”
A few seconds after letting her shield down, she is immediately hit with a bolt of energy. Everyone stares, aghast. Her ring speaks.
“Ring status report, Green Lantern deceased. Initiating replacement. Teleportation needed.”
Kilowog’s voice booms.
“GET INTA ACTION YA POOZERS!”
Everyone follows orders.
“Back to back, Hal yells to Kreon. Kreon does so, and lets out a wide beam. Everyone hears a voice in their rings.
“Lethal force is now enabled.”
Hal creates a construct, and deflects bolts of energy.
“Always wanted a light saber.”
“A what?”
“Nothing, never mind.
Ch’p is surrounded by a group of Qwardians.
“Look at the rabbit. KILL IT!”
Ch’p let’s out a beam that goes in a circle, slicing them all.
“It’s a squirrel, to you.”
Kraken’s warrior instincts take hold. She creates sword and knife constructs and begins to fight and kill the Qwardians with it. She and Kreon tend to rely and their military skill to win their battles.
Kilowog shoots energy more powerful than anyone else. He fries the Qwardians in an instant.
“Hold the line, Poozers, don’t let any of them get away, or they’ll be reporting to Sinestro.”
Hal notices a few rookies having trouble creating a shield. They’re about to be hit by energy bolts, when Hal dives in front of them and creates a shield.
“C’mon rookies, show me some Green!” The rookies begin to fight back, but before Hal notices it, they are fried by Qwardians’ beams.
Tomar Re prefers a more subtle form of combat. He creates a giant green fish like creature and uses it as a train to bowl over the Qwardians.
Ch’p actually does create a train and uses it to bowl over Qwardians.
Kreon creates a sword and is able to fight off a few Qwardians. Soon a few surround him, when they are met by beams of energy to the head. Kraken saves them.
Kilowog has had enough. His voice booms across the field.
“CLEAR THE CRATER, I’M TAKIN’ CARE OF THESE POOZERS MYSELF!”
Everyone listens to Kilowog. A few rookies are fried since they can’t find the willpower to fly. One rookie actually makes it off the ground only to be fried by Qwardians.
Kilowog hits the crater with a wide beam and fries all the Qwardians.
All the lanterns regroup. Kilowog is the first to speak.
“Ya did well, poozers, but ya left a few for dead.”
An unseen person shouts.
“THE DEAD ARE THE LEAST OF YOUR WORRIES.
A rookie falls to the ground, dead. Hal leans down and looks at the wound.
“Claws. Ring, scan for voice signature.”
“Voice signature: Red Lantern known as ‘Vice.’”
Suddenly, vice jumps out of the darkness
“I’LL KILL YOU ALL!”
“Looks like we got trouble.” Says Tomar.
Part Three: endless rage:
"Looks like we’ve got trouble.” says Tomar.
“Master Atrocitus does not want anyone finding Parallax. Vice throws up a burst of acid blood. Everyone puts their shields up…except for the rookies. They are instantly killed. Their rings speak.
“Status report: Green Lantern deceased, locating sentient replacement. Teleportation needed.”
Vice grabs Ch’p and teleports. A few seconds later he reappears with the acid blood all over him.
“Ring.” says Kraken, “Scan for life.”
“Life signs: negative.”
“Ch’p!”shouts Kreon.
Vice drops from above, grabs Tomar Re, and teleports with his ring.
Elsewhere:
Tomar is immediately hit several times by Vice. He then kicks him, breaking his ribs.
“Kill.” says Vice. He blasts him with his ring.
Tomar puts up a shields, and blasts before Vice can gain an advantage.
“That’s for Ch’p!”
Vice runs at Tomar and slams into him. Tomar hit him back.
“I am the keeper of the book of Oa. I will survive!” He then creates a construct of the book of Oa, and slams it shut on Vice.
This only further enrages Vice who then stabs him through the heart, and he falls over, dead.
Qward:
“Where is he?” asks Kilowog.
“I don’t know! Says Kraken, all I know is I want the little **** dead!”
In a flash, Tomar’s dead body falls to the ground. Vice takes Kraken.
“If you want to fight me, all you had to do was ask.”
Elsewhere:
Kraken instinctively creates two knife constructs.
Taken by surprise, Vice hits Kraken in the face, then stomps on her as she is on the ground. Her nose is broken. She immediately gets up and stabs Vice through the heart.
“I have no heart.” He says. “I only have rage, the ring keeps me alive.” He upper cuts Kraken with a construct, then ties a grenade construct to her head.
Qward:
“Where is that little ****” says Kreon! “I’LL KILL HIM FOR THIS!”
“He killed two of our guys, I say we kill him.” says Kilowog.
“Better make it three.” Hal says, as Kraken’s headless body falls to the ground.
Vice jumps through the air and grabs Kreon. He goes to teleport when he is suddenly struck by Kilowog’s beam.
“Dead.” says Vice.
He runs to Kilowog, dodging or ignoring all beams of energy. He jumps in the air and pukes acid blood on Kilowog’s face, scarring him. Hal notices that his ring hasn’t left him, so he must be alive. Hal shoots a few energy blasts at Vice.
Vice stares at him intently, points his ring sideways, and kills Kreon.
This act angers Hal. He and Kreon were friends. He even trained him. Hal screams as he lets out his most powerful energy blast he has yet done. Vice is weakened, but not down. He runs to him and slams him to the ground. The two roll in the dirt, fighting each other. Hal is consumed with rage.
“JUST DIE YOU MURDERER!” They fall into a ditch. Only one comes out alive.
“Status report: Red Lantern deceased, initiating replacement scan. Teleportation needed.
Hal climbs out of the ditch, his uniform torn. While they fell into the ditch, Hal had snapped Vice’s neck.
Kilowog comes to.
“What happened, poozer?”
“We’re the only one’s alive.”
“And Vice?”
“I killed him.”
Suddenly, in a flash of light, the Guardians appear. “Kilowog, you are to come with us, Lantern Jordan is to finish to mission himself.”
“ Why?”
“You are attracting too much attention. Most of your team is dead. Take the bodies and come with us.”
“Kilowog did as told, he turned around to Hal and said one last thing too him.
“Sorry poozer, good luck.”
Oa:
The Guardians talk about the subject.
“Should we tell Kilowog of our plans?”
“No, he is a friend of Jordan’s. This would just enrage him.”
“He mustn’t know that the other Corps will bicker among each other, and we’re to go in just before the winner takes Parallax.”
“And what of Jordan?”
“He is our cover. Most Lanterns will see what Vice did to Kilowog and presume he is dead. Jordan us supposedly the only survivor. He is to cover up our true meaning. I doubt he will survive all this. Besides….
…he is the most expendable Lantern we have.
Part Four: Ten To One:
After days of searching Qward, Hal felt he was going insane. On the fifth day of searching for Parallax, Hal felt like he had been in the antimatter universe for years. He finally had some interaction with somebody when the ring gave him a warning.
“WARNING: Sinestro Corps members approaching.”
“How many?”
“Ten. A scout troop.”
“Cloak me.” the ring did as told, making Hal invisible.
Hal recognized most of the members of the scout troop from training. Arkillo, The Sinestro Corps’ trainer. Kind of like Kilowog. Bedovian, the Sinestro Corps’ sniper. Amon Sur, the Sinestro Corpsman of sector 2814. Tri Eye, who almost made Hal throw up just looking at him, Karu Sil, who’s wolf pack was killed by a Green Lantern, she’s been hunting them ever since, Romat Ru, the same species as Tomar. Slushh, who was a green pile of bones, he is often mistaken for a Green Lantern in battle. Smithwick, who is the same species as Salaak. Kryb, the baby stealer, and Enkafos the tactician.
They were about to fly by him when Arkillo stopped them.
“Wait!” He says. “I smell….something.”
“I taste it.” Bedovian says.
They use their rings to find Hal, it hit him and Hal uncloaks.
“A Green Lantern! Says Enkafos.
Instinctively, Hal blasts his ring, Enkafos is hit. He falls to the ground. (Hal always thought he was to weak to be a member of the Sinestro Corps.
Arkillo blasts Hal, as he falls into a ditch. Smithwick and Slushh, go to shoot him. Hal hits Smithwick with a boxing glove construct, but he blocks. Slushh fires at him, and Hal creates a construct that sends his blast flying back at him.
“Lethal force is now enabled.” says his ring.
Hal blasts the two with a magnificent burst of green light
When the dust settles, both weakly get up. Hal hits Smithwick with energy, then turns to Slushh.
“Slushh, right?” says Hal. He hits him with a fly swatter construct. “You’re slush.”
Hal flies up in the air to meet Romat Ru. The two’s ring make contact. Tri Eye, ad Karu Sil go to attack.
“No!” shouts Arkillo. “It’s matter vs. antimatter. We’ll die!”
Romat and Hal go flying backwards. Only Hal gets up, miraculously.
Though he is pushed back down by the rings of Karu Sil, Kryb, and Tri Eye.” Hal puts up a shield.
“Ring.” He says, teleport me.”
The ring teleports him out, and Hal shatters his construct to make it look like it caved in. After a few minutes, Tri Eye says
“He can’t be alive.”
Hal sneaks up behind them and cuts off oxygen until they pass out.
Hal is then hit from behind by Bedovian. Hal takes a while to notice him, but once he does, he goes into his shell…which is exactly what Hal wants. Hal grabs his shell and throws it at Arkillo, who was about to attack.
Arkillo throws and unconscious Bedovian off of him.
“You put up a good fight….for a human.”
“It’s this human that’s going to kick you’re a**!”
Angered, Arkillo shoots energy at him. Hal dodges.
“You were able to smell me, right. I’m betting you’re sensitive to smells? Hal takes a construct and put it in Arkillo’s nostril’s, he screams in pain.
“I think that’s a yes.” He vibrates the constructs. Arkillo passes out.
The ring speaks.
“WARNING: Power levels approaching zero point zero percent.”
Amon Sur steps out of the shadows.
“I’ve been waiting.”
“Waiting till the rest were down to take me on, smart, yet just like your Corps color: yellow.”
Enraged, Amon shoots beams of energy at Hal, who is hit by it. He dodges the others.
“You know, I’m not just all….” he says, dodging Amon’s blasts, “ring slinging, and flying. Hal creeps up behind Amon, and punches his back, he bends backwards, as Hal takes out his legs.
“Sometimes, I’ve got to improvise”
Hal twists Amon’s arm behind his back and chokes him. Amon throws himself back slams his head into Hal’s, resulting in Hal hitting his head on the ground.
“Stop fighting!” Hal says. “It’ll all be over soon.”
Amon tries to fight, but Hal swing hi sideways and throws his head into the ground. He falls unconscious.
“Finally.” Hal says. “I can recharge.” He calls his lantern from a pocket dimension. And says the oath.
“In brightest day,
In blackest night
No evil shall escape my sight!
Let those who worship evil’s might
Beware my power…
….GREEN LANTERN’S LIGHT!
Hal breathes deep with renewed energy.
“Now….” he says. “I’m back in the game.”
Part Five: Crawling Through the Wreckage:
It hasn’t been long after his battle with Sinestro Corps scouts that Hal came across Red Lanterns and Sinestro Corpsmen fighting.
“Ring!” says Hal. “Scan for entities nearby.”
“Nearby entities: One: Parallax. It is across the battlefield.
“Teleport me.”
“Unable to teleport. Parallax interfering.”
“Cloaking?”
“I am unable.”
Hal guessed that it was the same for all of the people fighting, otherwise one of the groups would’ve gone invisible and taken Parallax.
“Looks like it’s up to me!”
Hal observed the battle before going in, to get a sense of how his enemy would be fighting.
He saw one Lantern shoot acid on the Sinestros, then get stabbed in the back. Another two fought, and the red lantern incinerated him. After a while of fighting, a Red Lantern noticed him.
“A Green Lantern!” she shouted.
She and a pack of other Red Lanterns headed for him
“Oh God, here comes trouble.”
One threw up acid, but Hal put up his shield. The other sliced him with his ring. The third went to take a shot at him, but Hal hit him with a giant fist construct. He fell back, unconscious. One hit him in the head, and went for a kick. Hal used his ring to grab her foot and throw her into the other one. They fell to the ground.
Hal’s ring spoke.
“Lethal force is now enabled.”
Hal flew through the battlefield. About one fourth of the way across, he was hit by a yellow beam. A Sinestro Corpsman headed for him. Hal created a shield and knight stick. The Corpsman went to punch him, but Hal moved out of the way and struck him in the back of the head with the knight stick.
He started to run across the battlefield, when he went flying in the air from and explosion. Red and Yellow working together.
“I wonder if there’s a lesson in this…” Hal said to himself.”
Hal then created a plane and threw it into the two people, they were consumed in an explosion.
Hal created a spaceship and flew across the battlefield. He shot some green missiles when he needed to, and drove through the crowd of ring slingers when that wasn’t enough.
Eventually, two enemies cracked opened his construct and entered.
Hal just waved his hand and the floor gave out from under them.
Hal then noticed something was wrong with the engine, he put up his shield just in time before his construct exploded. A Red Lantern dove at him, Hal grimaced when it sliced his torso. It went to bite him but Hal but chains around his jaw.
“I’ve had enough of you!” He threw the lantern to the ground. Finally, Hal could see he was in the clear.
He went to go to a holding cell (where his ring told him Parallax was) when he was intercepted by another Red Lantern.
“Looks like Vice didn’t finish the job.” the voice said.
Hal looked up to see Atrocitus standing over him.
“And I get the pleasure of killing Abin Sur’s successor.”
“Like HELL you do!” shouted a voice, as a yellow wall appeared in front of them.
Sinestro had found them.
“I’ll be killing Jordan AND you, then I’ll take Parallax.
“Looks like we all have the same goals.” says Atrocitus.
“Three way battle…nice!” says Hal.
Part Six: Fight for Parallax:
Atrocitus leapt into action. He punched Hal and flew at Sinestro.
“YOU’RE DEAD, SINESTRO I WILL FEAST ON YOUR RAGE!”
Sinestro hit Atrocitus with a burst of energy.
“You will not.”
Suddenly, Hal flew through the two of them, and they flew in opposite directions.
Sinestro and Atrocitus then teamed up to fight Hal. Sinestro hit him low, while Atrocitus hit him high.
Hal fell to the ground. Atrocitus screamed as he threw himself at Sinestro. He slashed his face.
He was then covered by green tongs and tossed aside.
“Neither of you are getting Parallax” said Hal. Sinestro leaps at him and hits him with a left and right cross, sparks from his ring sizzling as he punches him. Hal intercepts one punch and hit him in the stomach with a boxing glove. Hal punches Sinestro to the ground.
Atrocitus then hits Hal with red energy, and throws up acid blood on him. Hal screams in pain.
“I will eat your heart.” he says.
“Not if I can help it! Hal turns around and hits Atrocitus with a construct of a giant hammer. Atrocitus runs at him, un phased by his attack, when suddenly, a burst of yellow energy goes through Atrocitus’ heart.
“Why?” He says.
Taking advantage of the situation, Hal takes out Atrocitus’ legs.
Sinestro hits him with a few arrow constructs.
“Tell your friend Green Arrow I said hi.”
“Sure thing.” Hal emit’s a burst of energy that swings around his body like ripples in a pond. Atrocitus and Sinestro fall backwards.
Sinestro then attacks Atrocitus, and the two exchange blows. Both are bleeding, suits torn.
Hal throws a chain construct around Atrocitus’ neck, and brings him to the ground.
“YOU KILLED MY TEAMMATES!”
“Minor casualties of war.”
Hal lets out an extreme blast of energy entirely focused on Atrocitus’ face. Atrocitus grabs the chain around his neck and tugs it.
“I’LL DIE BEFORE LANTERNS PUT ME IN CHAINS AGAIN!”
“So be it!”
Hal and Atrocitus exchange blows. Hal hits him in the ribcage, followed by an uppercut.
Atrocitus blocks Hal’s next punch and claws his face. The two are about to punch each other when Hal exclaims
“WAIT!”
“What, human?”
“Where’s Sinestro?”
As if in answer a magnificent glow comes from behind them. A voice speaks in unison with Sinestro.
“I AM PARALLAX! I HAVE THE POWER OF THE ENTIRE GREEN LANTERN CORPS FROM MY DAYS INSIDE THE BATTERY! YOU TWO WILL BE MY FIRST KILL IN EONS!”
“This look bad to you?” Asks Hal.
“Yes, human, this looks very bad.”
Part Seven: Finale:
Hal and Atrocitus had been dodging Parallax’s blasts for what seemed like hours. They both witnessed Parallax’s unrelenting power.
Atrocitus had been slashing Parallax for a few minutes. He hit him with a burst of energy then puked acid blood on him. Parallax hit him with a missile. Hal grabbed Atrocitus and put a protective bubble around them. He grimaced as Parallax shot extremely powerful blasts of energy at him.
“Here’s the plan, Atrocitus: Parallax and Sinestro have a bond, right?”
“Yes.”
“So, what we’re going to do is hurt Sinestro so badly Parallax will be forced to leave him.” Hal grunted as Parallax hit his force field with more power.
“What’s to keep it from possessing one of us?”
“That’s where you come in. You need to retrieve your battery. We’re both going to imprison half of Parallax in each of our batteries. Only we will know it.”
“I’ll get it. Ring. Teleport.”
Atrocitus teleports out. The minute Hal’s shield is down he’s hit over and over with bursts of energy. Hal screams in pain. Everything gets dizzy.
Suddenly, Hal gets and idea. He shoots a microscopic beam of energy at Parallax.
Parallax laughs.
“And how is that supposed to hurt me?”
“Oh, you know…I just split an atom.”
Immediately, and atomic explosion went off. Hal put a bubble around it. He screamed with pain and rage as he tried to contain it, as he spoke to himself.
“contain it. contain it. CONTAIN IIIT!!!!!”
Finally, the explosion was over, Hal collapsed in agony. Sinestro was alive, and Parallax received the brunt of the impact.
Atrocitus came back.
“Say you’re oath!”
They both say their respective oaths.
“With blood and rage of crimson red”
“In brightest day, in blackest night.”
“Ripped from a corpse so freshly dead.”
“no evil shall escape my sight”
“Together with out hellish hate.”
“Let those who worship evil’s might”
“We’ll burn you all THAT IS YOU FATE!”
Beware my power, GREEN LANTERN’S LIGHT!”
With a scream Parallax fell into their batteries. Atrocitus turned to Hal.
“you helped save everyone, human, so I will not kill you. Instead, I will transport you to Oa.
Part Eight: Epilogue:
Oa:
Hal teleported onto Oa in a flash of light.
“POOZER?”
Hal turned around to see Kilowog.
“POOZER! YOU’RE ALIVE!” Kilowog hugged Hal.
“Good thing too.” He said “The Guardians want to see you.”
Citadel of the Guardians:
Hal walks in to the Guardian’s citadel.
“Jordan, we have questions for you--.”
“Shut up!” said Jordan. “I’ll ask the questions!”
“First of all, why the **** did you leave me to die on that suicide mission?”
“We had to cover our real reason--”
“YOU USED ME AS CANON FODDER! I’m not one who likes being played, I--”
“Enough, Jordan!” Many said together. One stepped in front of them.
“Brothers, we should not be concerned with what happened, Jordan has earned his stripes, he successfully completed his mission. I suggest we forget this.”
“Thank you, Ganthet.” Hal said.
Ganthet turned to Hal. “Lantern Jordan, there is trouble on Earth, somebody named…Hector Hammond.”
Hal flew off to Earth.
“Hey…he sounds like fun!”
End.
