Re-reading it now just to double check. I'm pretty certain it's because of withdrawal from the drug.
He screams 'no' when JPV cuts the line, and the caption then says "He has found Bane's weakness--dependency on poison." Then when the subway car is crashing he mutters "v...venom...another...j...jolt." I think those help support the theory that he was indeed addicted to the drug and believed he needed it (just as many drug addicts do). And this was the first time venom was completely taken from him, and he panicked.

It's courtesy of the drug. Not only that he pumped a huge amount, but that he was suddenly cut off from the drug he was addicted to. That swift withdrawal made him panic and put him in a horrible state of mind. Personally, I believe an OD of the drug would have him act in the opposite manner (increased aggression).
He was going wild while he kept pumping himself with it (that's what I was referring to when I spoke of an OD, not after JPV broke the device that supplied the venom).
He was suddenly cut off, but Bane wasn't utilizing the drug at all times, either - just when it was required. So being abruptly cut off is unlikely to have resulted in withdrawl within mere seconds.Which is why I agree and said increased doses would lead to further aggression. I also think his lashing out was partially attributed to his frustration. He later rants about how he already broke the bat, and yadda yadda yadda. Point being, I think the withdrawal is the primary factor that put him into that frail mental state and forced him to act in the manner he did. If it was just increased venom, I think he'd continue his actions against JPV, instead of the opposite.

I'm aware, but the joke was without the light it's possible that would have been end game for JPV. I'm aware we can then go "but without..." for other factors, but my comment was never intended to be a serious one to begin with. No doubt, JPV was in a very tight spot. But it wasn't so dissimilar to their earlier encounter when Bane had him on the ropes, and JPV used his claws to stab him in the thigh. The light did save him there, but I think he did have other options to free himself, is my point.
And I know it was a joke. Please tell me you purposely used "on the ropes" to joke about the conclusion of that match.

I have the fight in front of me, too, but I thought that "finding his dependency on the drug" simply meant he realised Bane was relying far too much to the inhuman powers venom granted him, and now that he was cut off, he'd fade away.
The reason I spoke of mental instability is that his first reaction is illogical, nearly childlike - "I already won! I broke the Batman!" as if he is in denial, not believing the situation he's in anymore.
Note that I didn't spoke of Bane not suffering from withdrawl after times elapses, which is when he asks for more venom. Just that him making a run for it came before that.

It was likely during the Redemption one-shot.

But we know that isn't true, per his second showing against Croc. I think it's because he was on a good amount, and then abruptly kicked off of the drug and not allowed to have access to it.
"The reason I spoke of mental instability is that his first reaction is illogical, nearly childlike - "I already won! I broke the Batman!" as if he is in denial, not believing the situation he's in anymore."
I believe we could likely speculate on that one all day. Was that sincere frustration in the heat of the moment on his behalf? Was it lashing out because he knew he was defeated after all of his efforts? Was it attributed to be swiftly kicked off the drug? etc, etc.
"Note that I didn't spoke of Bane not suffering from withdrawl after times elapses, which is when he asks for more venom. Just that him making a run for it came before that."
I think having his source of venom destroyed (where-as with Croc it was just the gauntlet) and to top it off while already receiving a dose was a major jolt to him. He was getting a feed and then bam, not anymore, nor will he be able to. The realization and belief he needs the drug (as he did in his first JPV encounter to even the strength difference) dictated his mindset and rather pathetic actions from that point, imho.

I thought of that, too, but note that Bane never got the opportunity to actually use venom in the Croc rematch.
I think that he definitely wasn't in his right mind, either way.
The theory is sound, and in all honesty, despite me thinking it was more so because of his mental issues at that point, there is no definitive way to tell for sure, but I accept the reasoning in your explanation.

"I thought of that, too, but note that Bane never got the opportunity to actually use venom in the Croc rematch."
Exactly why I believe it's withdrawal. He was on it, and the it was ripped from him and he wasn't allowed to go back on. He didn't believe he required it at all times back then, but he definitely used it whenever he could in combat. Because his mind was clean (so to speak) against Croc, it wasn't as significant of a blow when his gauntlet was destroyed. Here, he was on it then it was yanked from him. And the result was acting in a sad, sad manner over the loss of his addiction. Or so I believe.

A fair thought, but having it ripped off should not instantaneously negate the effects of the venom already running through his veins. It meant he could no longer access any more for the duration of that particular fight, but he had already utilized sufficient to run on it for a while.

"A fair thought, but having it ripped off should not instantaneously negate the effects of the venom already running through his veins."
Surely, but he was well aware of it. A dose was steadily being given to him, then it was cut off. He knew he no longer had access to venom and he craved it. Unfortunately for him, how he handled the loss of his addiction wasn't exactly honorable. lol
"It meant he could no longer access any more for the duration of that particular fight, but he had already utilized sufficient to run on it for a while"
Agreed. But the emotional realization of being stripped from the drug and no longer having access to it (for the first time in his history, I image) was more powerful than the logical opinion of "I've still got some juice in me. Bring it, Bat Jr."

Aha, so the problem was mental.
Bane of the Demon was a nice series. The more I read Talia, the more I hate her, though. Spoiled brat.

Talia's face when Bane returns from the pit is priceless.

What did you think of the Ra's encounter?

It was a swordfight, having Bane win would defy logic.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me as to why he'd try to match Ra's with a blade instead of unarmed. I imagine he'd stand a far better chance in that respect. But still, it was well done and Ra's points were amusing (you've likely read a book or two on how to use a blade, but have never done so).

It's the reason Deathstroke fights Eddie Fyers and Deadshot with guns instead of closing the gap and beating the snot out of them. It obviously makes no sense, but makes the fight more exciting by giving the weaker fighter a chance to beat the more powerful one, by bringing the more powerful to the weaker one's element.

by bringing the more powerful to the weaker one's element. [/i][/quote] I personally generally very much dislike these kinds of fights.
