Currently reading his appearances, as you know. He's a truly compelling character.

Bane? You mean that overgrown nicompoop who kept charging after you in Batman: Arkham Asylum? Jeesh, who the hell would respect that moron? Killer Croc was soooooo much more badass in that game. Bane ain't shit without the poison tubes lulz. Beware Croc's Lair, bitches!!
Honestly, that's the impression most novice comic readers have of Bane and Killer Croc on Youtube, among other sites. Roflcopter........

In all seriousness now, I feel that Bane is definitely a First-tier Batman villain despite not having an actual win against him. I honestly find him more interesting than most of that particular rogue gallery. He's the total package: brilliant, tactical, highly skilled and peak humanly strong without the venom. He's also a character you can't help but feel bad for.

LOL,i wanted to kick Paul Dini for using Bane like that. It's clear that he should stick with crime/mystery stuff. His handling of Ra's also displeased me and who could forget Countdown eh?

Read Vengeance of Bane and Vengeance of Bane II: Redemption yesterday. They provide great insight on the character, and make me respect him even further.
I'm shocked at how little I remember from KnightFall/Knightsquest/KnightsEnd despite having read it, though.

Oh, well, I'll read them all anyway.
Just read the Azbats vs Bane rematch in Batman # 500. I remembered it being brutal, but, really, what a bout!

Friggin' chest light saved him

It's not like Bane was ODing on venom to cope, or anything.
Both had advantages that helped them turn the tables over the course of the fight.

Friggin' chest light saved him Nah he would have won anyway. The suit was really unfair.

Of course, but the fanboy in me chooses to only point out the one against the character I like.
The worst is when you see people use that victory as a legitimate argument. That was the first time Bane suffered massive withdrawal from the drug and couldn't handle it, thus the running like a madman and getting his ass kicked along the way.

Batman and Nightwing could'nt beat him either despite repeatedly trying.Valley was a monster.

He did suffer earlier in the story, but he was pumped before, and during the fight until JPV broke the tubes. Not sure if him running away can be solely attributed to withdrawl, but rather the mental instability the venom caused.

JPV was pummeling Bane before, too, but Bane recovered and made a come back, so it's only fair for JPV to do the same. It was a constant back and forth until JPV broke the tubes, really.

Not sure if him running away can be solely attributed to withdrawl, but rather the mental instability the venom caused. It's courtesy of the drug. Not only that he pumped a huge amount, but that he was suddenly cut off from the drug he was addicted to. That swift withdrawal made him panic and put him in a horrible state of mind. Personally, I believe an OD of the drug would have him act in the opposite manner (increased aggression).

I'm aware we can then go "but without..." for other factors, but my comment was never intended to be a serious one to begin with.

He was going wild while he kept pumping himself with it (that's what I was referring to when I spoke of an OD, not after JPV broke the device that supplied the venom).
He was suddenly cut off, but Bane wasn't utilizing the drug at all times, either - just when it was required. So being abruptly cut off is unlikely to have resulted in withdrawl within mere seconds.

But it wasn't so dissimilar to their earlier encounter when Bane had him on the ropes, and JPV used his claws to stab him in the thigh. The light did save him there, but I think he did have other options to free himself, is my point.
And I know it was a joke.
