Like phantom said: asthma medicine works this way And It's made up. It does what it wants. Oh, and it's a comic-adapted movie, so the director does what he wants too.
IF THIS IS INDEED THE WAY BANE TAKES VENOM IN TDKR (because nobody knows this for sure)....then I don't see the reason at all for the unnecessary change. It does annoy me when directors decide to make completely unnecessary changes from the source material, so I'm with you if it is indeed the case.

Except that if it was in the water for weeks, everyone who took a hot shower or boiled some tea would have been exposed to the effects. Cases would begin to appear the minute they put the first batch in, and soon the contamination would have been discovered, rendering their plan moot. *Sciency hat twitches* Not necessarily. Some chemical effects can only be achieved when certain elements in a certain state come into contact. Water is H2O. However, whatever elements the toxin is might require oxygen, element X, calcium and another agent in the air. Therefore until whatever agent in the Air is absorbed in sufficient quantity in the human system the full chemical reaction causing the hallucination might not occur. There the latent chemicals could lie dormant in a person's system for weeks until the last component of the reaction is introduced.

We know exactly what they needed to do to infect the population, and it is the thing we do daily, only on a far greater scale. The movie 's equation is nothing more than water+toxin+vapor=instant mind fuck. Now granted, the toxin could work by needing another agent or anything, but the movie makes it clear that all they needed was to vaporize it. On a side note, I'm surprised Ckal hasn't responded to my post on the first page.

I was merely pointing out that chemicals can be harmlessly dormant for long periods of time and only triggered when a new variable is introduced like a 4th element being suddenly breathed in.

And again, while this is true, the movie doesn't present it like that, nor makes any implication towards that conclusion.

Only the why in their science is what they got wrong. Not the if it was possible. Be proud of your superior brain man!

Perhaps indestructible for your science.
Luckily I know occult and mystic procedures for just such an event.
