No one acknowledges the events of vol 2 so you're good, lol.
It was subpar in comparison. Not terrible, but nowhere near as inspired as the original stories or vol 3.

I read it in its entirety, so it's up to you. If your reading is to be selective, you should avoid it. If you want to be up to date with all things Jackie Estacado, then go for it.
By the way, reading the First Born mini-series is rather crucial before starting vol 3.

So, when I read The Darkness. I avoid vol. 2? yes, unless you reaaaaaaally want to and accept that you will be reading generally sub-par material not really seen as canon most of the time.

It was subpar in comparison. Not terrible, but nowhere near as inspired as the original stories or vol 3. I'm partway through vol 1. I like it a lot. Especially the hilarious reaction to the inability for sex. Nah but really it's great. I'm an Ennis fan to begin with, so that just makes it better.
