Near the end of the Spider-Man panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel released the following image. While too early to tell yet, there is great hope that the much vaunted return of Ben Reilly, is at hand.

I'm sure you're thrilled. From what I've read of the era, I also enjoyed Reilly. I wonder if Kaine will return during this as well (since we saw he lived at the end of Grim Hunt).

Indeed. I cannot think of a teaser that had me more excited than this in recent memory.
I just hope it's not a new character wearing the costume, but Ben himself. The teaser is also a bit strange in that respect, given that the picture commonly utilizes fire in a way that indicates the costume is being destroyed. Of course, in a more broad sense, you could say fire indicates rebirth, in a "phoenix" from the ashes kind of manner.

I heard word that Kaine may be siding with the newly reborn Jackal. I have no idea how true that could possibly be given their past history. Tarantula (Kaine) vs Kraven is a grudge-match waiting to happen at some point, though.
Is he the director or just a producer of the project? By the way, are you interested in Tintin? I'm a big fan.

No information was released other than it's still alive, a writer was working on it, and it can be expected in the next 2-3 years. I'd say producing or directing are equally likely. He's been producing so much now, but this is also a franchise close to his heart that he popularized, so I can understand the desire to be responsible for the success (or failure) of its anticipated return.

I'm pretty sure he was the producer for the third one. A JP4 with Spielberg directing is far more likely to be watchable, so I hope he does make it (since they seem hellbent on making it, anyway).

It's not something I grew up with or ever really followed, so no. But, credit to Jackson and Spielberg for the visual style.

I think the stories hold up really well even if you are over 20. I read most of them when I was 15-16 and they are still among my favourite comics.

I really hope Ben is coming back too. He is my favorite Spider-Man next to Ultimate Spider-Man.
I just hope that burning sweater means he is going to drop that thing. I always hated the sweater.
