This promo was released at San Diego Comic Con. The image implies Deadpool will be killed off in February, but will Marvel really kill off the merc with a mouth...or will this be a story arc where he's put in a situation like Wolverine goes to hell? Seems like a bold move considering Wade's popularity (and potential movie in the works), but maybe Marvel has heard the outcry from fans over Wilson's overexposure. Then again, the average death in the 616 universe tends to last months at most. What do you guys think?

They aren't going to kill off such a cash cow.
That being said, I only enjoyed classic Deadpool so the caricature he's been degraded to now doesn't interest me in the least. They may burn him for all I care.

It's probably just a new on-going title.
I for one hope it is, with a more serious take on the character. At least one where the sole reason for his existence is to act like a schizophrenic retard. Take note Marvel: Kelly and pre-Kelly is what you should aim for.

Yeah so would I. He would actually be a good character.

Closest thing we have to that right now is UXF.

UXF is a good portrayal of DP, but he isn't really relevant to the group. They could have had pretty much the same adventures without him and they'd still be doing just as well. Fantomex, Angel, Wolverine and Psylocke have all gotten their time in the spotlight, but Wade's involvement is minimal aside from their fight in the World.

morph- Wade has done almost nothing in UXF, but his portrayal is pretty good. Part of that may be due to him not being the main character.

Part of that may be due to him not being the main character. it's telling when the best appearances of a character is ones where he doesn't matter

Yeah recently that's unfortunately the case. He's just written like an asshole now and his character is a complete joke. Back in his early days, no.

I dropped the Way Deadpool title a few months back. I get my Deadpool fix from Uncanny X-Force now. I think Rick Remender has a much better handle on Wade that Daniel Way does.

At the Marvel Next Big Thing panel and the Year of the X-Men panel at SDCC 2011, Daniel way revealed the next Deadpool story arc after the Institutionalized arc. "Institutionalized" leads into a story called "You Complete Me," where Deadpool has a very disturbing romance, and out of that comes Evil Deadpool, which is a collection of Deadpool's severed body parts. He can do anything Deadpool can do, but without a semblance of a conscience. As a result of this confrontation, Deadpool is going to be one of the most wanted people in the world. A fan commenting that Way has brought a cohesiveness to Deadpool's fighting style--Way says that the Evil Deadpool story arc is nothing but action, so we'll see more of that Daniel Way is recapping "Evil Deadpool," in which a bunch of Deadpool's body parts wind up in a dumpster, gel together and become Evil Deadpool. He can do anything Deadpool can, but without any semblance of a conscience. It's Deadpool's first toe-to-toe equal fight in a while. He's met his match this time." www.deadpoolbugle.com/2011/07/sdcc-2011-daniel-way-reveals-evil.html

I wouldn't say Fraken-Pool but maybe it's more like Deadpool's doppelganger.

"As a result of this confrontation, Deadpool is going to be one of the most wanted people in the world."
Oh, you mean like he already was after there was footage of him giving a salute to skrulls? (Yknow, that plot point that went entirely unresolved?).

I don't know about anyone else but this could imply that this is going a major story arc involving numerous characters.

Deadpool, despite being an oddball, is a character that needs a good writer to do him justice. He hasn't had that since Nicieza in C&DP imo.
