Now that Marvel Studios are officially completed introducing general audiences to the cinematic worlds of their most popular and well known characters that they still own the rights to, everyone was expecting them to come out with movies for some of their lesser known characters in the coming years. We have heard whispers and rumors of Iron Fist, Ant-Man, Luke Cage, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange. Well, it now seems official, Marvel Studios is moving forward with Doctor Strange, and in the opinion of twitchfilm putting it on the fast track for a 2013 release. This seems a bit questionable considering Iron Man 3 is confirmed for May 2013 and Thor is confirmed for July 2013 already. Here are some excerpts from the article: Oppenheimer and Donnelly have written the scripts for the Conan reboot and Cowboys and Aliens. So far CaA has been a disappointment in the box office and critically, and the word is still out on Conan (to be released this month). What do you think about the Sorcerer Supreme getting his shot at Marvel Studios cinematic glory?

Excellent. Despite not really caring too much for the character, this definitely has potential. After all, I enjoyed the animated movie much more than I expected.

They'll probably ruin it by having magic just be "advanced science"

I'm really happy to hear this, but it seems like it could just go wrong too easily. Marvel Studios seriously needs to bust out their A-game with this one, just like with Iron Man. They need to make a bad ass marketing campaign too, cuz I would hate to see it flop. This movie needs a pretty massive budget IMO.
Also, I would rather them go the route of him having powers for the entirety of the film and explaining his origins in flashbacks or something because watching him be a surgeon for a while would just kill it for me.

crom- That is probably sarcasm I realize, but I highly doubt it. It's not, they did it to Thor!

Lol. It was magic. Thor was trying to explain it to a puny human in words her mortal mind could understand. Being a divine but ruthless being such as yourself, you should understand these puny mortals are far beneath you.

Lol. It was magic. Thor was trying to explain it to a puny human in words her mortal mind could understand. No it was advanced science, they said it was the same thing, even amongst themselves. Then Cap continued with that by the exposition done by Red Skull concerning the cosmic cube. And science worked on it. Screw you, Marvel Studios, you monsters! Being a divine but ruthless being such as yourself, you should understand these puny mortals are far beneath you. As being far beneath me, they do not deserve any special consideration, especially in the form of comforting lies to stop them from knowing how puny and insignificant they are.

Lol.
Who would you like to see in the role of the good Doctor? Villains or plot lines perhaps?

Christ, Crom, you're still going off on that?
There's was way dumber shit in Thor than Thor's one-line explanation of how his world works and Foster completely invalidating herself as a scientist.
like
how did the Vikings and junk worship Thor and Loki if they weren't even born when the gods came down to Earth?
or fucking Frost Giants. man. I'm never going to get over how I actually saw creatures designated as "Frost Giants" in a movie that I watched in a theatre.
shit's mad goofy. and man if I get to have goofy frost giant dog monsters and people riding horses when they can fly, fuck logical explanations/science
i'm not drunk.

They should give it to a passionate writer/director. Because I don't feel this will do well without it. Hopefully, I'll be wrong. Because I don't mind Strange.

You have a good point. I am very, very skeptical of these writers, especially if Conan does not do well.

Christ, Crom, you're still going off on that? "Only blood can wash away blood." how did the Vikings and junk worship Thor and Loki if they weren't even born when the gods came down to Earth? I'd gotten the impression that they were, from the movie and that both in fact are hundreds if not thousands of years old. Which would make sense. or fucking Frost Giants. man. I'm never going to get over how I actually saw creatures designated as "Frost Giants" in a movie that I watched in a theatre. You must hate all mythology them where there are a laundry list of strange and weird creatures like frost giants, elementals and spirits... shit's mad goofy. and man if I get to have goofy frost giant dog monsters and people riding horses when they can fly, fuck logical explanations/science No then it becomes even more important for it to make sense as a movie. Because nothing about mythology is scientific. If they'd said it was magic, actual magic. Then flying horses, frost giants and spells would make perfect sense. Instead they went with that bullshit advanced science crap. Screw them yes you are.

Yeah fuck Marvel those magic haters! --Meanwhile back at their evil hideout Marvel Studios moves ahead with a movie featuring the Sorcerer Supreme.-- And like I said, unless they set Doctor Strange is it's own seperate verse. Which is very unlikely since all the Marvel Studios movies up to this point are part of a shared universe/ It's going to get the Thor treatment and thus destroy the entire point of the character

"I'd gotten the impression that they were, from the movie and that both in fact are hundreds if not thousands of years old. Which would make sense."
but they were kids when Odin was telling them the story and they acted like had no idea what he was talking about or were oblivious to their pasts. so that doesn't really make sense personally.
"You must hate all mythology them where there are a laundry list of strange and weird creatures like frost giants, elementals and spirits..."
no but when there's creatures called frost giants, who freeze people by touching them and have giant lion dogs and make their arms swords and junk, i tend to overlook any sort of explanation they have for that, no matter how dumb or intelligent it is. they're frost giants. once they or anybody who can fly or throw a magic hammer and have it come back to them or teleport come into the picture "making sense" becomes totally unnecessary. it is what it is, and what it is is goofy and that's all i need. suspension of disbelief implodes.
"No then it becomes even more important for it to make sense as a movie. Because nothing about mythology is scientific. If they'd said it was magic, actual magic. Then flying horses, frost giants and spells would make perfect sense.

whatever man. it's unfortunate that it bothers you.
"yes you are."
