Discuss anything Hip Hop related here. To start things off, what's been the best album of the year so far and rest in peace to all the fallen MCs. We miss you and God Bless.

I'd say the most hip-hop related material I've listened to is in Linkin Park or (Hed)Pe. I like some of Eminem's stuff, though. "OMG YUR SO WHITE!" Yeah, I know.

I listen to a fair expanse of old rap and hip hop.
Notorious B.I.G., Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, Da La Soul, Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash. Some more modern stuff like Sage Francis, Jedi Mind Tricks, Talib Kweli. Nothing majorly commercial these days. It hasn't been good for years. Might sound kind of strange for a white guy from Australia and I don't dress up like someone I'm not but that doesn't take away from how much I appreciate the artform of rap and hip hop.

I've never heard his other material (aside from his random raps on Aqua Teen Hunger Force)

There's nothing wrong with not listening to Hip Hop. Nice artists/groups Dane. I've been listening to a lot of Atmosphere recently.

it seems like the current state of Hip Hop has all the quality talent being held back by shady record labels... everyone from Joe Budden to Redman to even Lupe Fiasco have had issues with releasing albums on there labels... yet when Gucci Mane or Wocka Flocka Flame wanna release a album there are no problems... its messed up

Anyway, I got tired of caring about the affairs of the mainstream music business. They're doin' what they know to do, and that's make money. They keep putting out Gucci Mane and Wocka Flocka Flame because they know that sells. Does that mean quality music gets swept under the rug? Well, yeah, but that's just business. Can't really blame them for doin' their job.
