Discuss Capcom's third-person zombie killing game here.

I like some of the ideas and such, but after just playing the first (on the 360 and Wii) I think some of the ways things were done could have been tweaked a bit. Alas, those things were probably fixed in DR2, so listing them would probably be a waste of time...lol.
Has there been any rumors of a DR3 yet? I downloaded a trial of "Case West" or something like that I think it was called, but haven't tried it yet to see if is a follow up to 2, or more of a stand alone type thing...

I know there's been a lot of DLC and such after DR2, but no official word on a 3rd. I'm glad they took away the camera aspect, but they REALLY need to fix the save system, and maybe stray away from the time limit for the third. I don't mind it, but that element is really offputting for many.

Yeah, the save mechanic and time frames made me more paranoid about missing some timed story element than the actual zombies...lol. Maybe a few timed missions would be ok, to save someone from being swarmed and lost, or die/turn from a bite, but not the entire experience.
I think if Dead Island does well, then we will see some changes to the usual DR formula. The competing games/universes should be good for innovation across the zombie game genre I hope.

DR1 saved your levels. I agree, the time mechanic is really frustrating. However, once you reach max level, the time constraint is what keeps the game borderline challenging as you kill bosses in two swings of your mighty chainsaw.
Beat Dead Rising 1 today. Saved something like 38 of the 52 possible survivors...or I guess 50 possible survivors if you do the full story. Missed killing only 2 psychopaths (Kent the photographer and...Cliff? the Vietnam vet). Got the "true ending" and beat Overtime Mode, which might as well just be part of 72 Hour Mode.
I'm going to do a run where I get a couple easy achievements like photograph these things, kill 1000 zombies in hand to hand, and then maybe leave it on while I do something else to get the 24 hours indoor/outdoor achievement (something like 2 real hours, for fuck sake) before shooting down the Helicopter.
I shall do all this while wearing a silly hat and ignoring the cries of FRAAAAAANK! FRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANK! from those annoying survivors. God only knows why I feel the need to save them all.
Hopefully when that run's over, I'll be full level and I'll try for my save everybody run.

Have I mentioned I don't start my new job until Monday and my car is in the shop?
I've pretty much just played video games all day.
