The Game Is Over: The Thread
Games that you love and miss when your journey is over.

I spotted this little gem a while back at IGN. And It got me thinking of games I've beaten and actually kinda found myself bummed that my journey in these fictional worlds was finally 'over'. In some cases, a journey that spanned multiple titles over the years of my life, with characters I've grown to know and like. They no longer had anymore adventures to share with me or stories to tell and I kinda missed them already. You know, games like that. =P

I imagine I'm not entire alone with titles I hold to that regard, at least I hope I'm not, on ledger. So I figure I could scratch together a thread where I can bum out my fellow ledger gamers into traveling with the ghost of gaming pasts and picking out some games that left you with a similar feeling of loss even after the grand victory over all challenges. That or at least create another thread that hardly anyone will reply to and think I'm completely nuts lol.

Feel Free to list as many games as you want, I'm not looking for a top 10 or the like. If you want you can even add a little reason and / or picture / video.

Just to start off:
.Hack//GU (Rebirth, Reminisce, Redemption)

If you know anything their is to know about the mysterious Hellos, he is a massive Dot Hack fan(boy). Seriously. I've always made it quite clear that I'm completely smitten with GU to the point I'd say it's not only my favorite set of games, but will always be my favorite set of games. Whether it's the soundtrack, characters, designs or game play, it's worked it's way to a place my mind were none can slay or conquer it. Infact I figure I'll soon be rocking a Haseo.gif after this thread is finished.

.Hack (Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, Quarantine)

Did I mention I was a massive Dot Hack fan? Yeah. Albeit I love the it's successor the GU games infinitely more, this would be one of those titles I spent an absurd amount of time through these four games, happily slaying monsters / going through absurdly long dungeons for my virtual prize, only to feel bummed at the thought Dot Hack was done.

Kingdom Hearts

I loved Kingdom Hearts. As I strolled through Gamestop browsing, in a time where something called Squaresoft existed, a mysterious shine caught my eye. Little could stop me from playing it after finding out this little game would slapped my favorite Disney films together into one adventure that I would soon thoroughly enjoy! Then came the ending. Wow what a downer. Especially given how the game goes to great lengths to get that relationship to shine prior. Outside Birth by Sleep and maybe a little Chain of Memories, I can't quite say any of the other titles in the franchise gave me that much of a low bow.
*Eagerly awaits KH3 so he can add that to the list.*

So there is three examples. Albeit all PS2 RPG games. And while I honestly can save games like AC, DS, Darkstalkers are all good smashing fun, I can't say I give a damn about them next to these titles. And this is coming from a Dead Space Fanboy to boot. =)

After ending my game a dozen times or so (with different pokemons each time) and finally retire my Gameboy Color,i was sad because that was the very last time i was in Kanto



I still miss these two

This NEEDS a sequel,i wanna play with Phoenix again....although i do like Apollo and Miles,Wright is just too awesome,i was extremely sad once i beat the game,saw the sad plot twist and remembered thats the last game Phoenix is the protagonist

The story is never necessarily complex (during the X series anyway) but I loved it anyway. My only gripe is that X is a bit emo at times. Which is too bad because other times he is straight boss. Supporting cast is Samuel Jackson levels of badass in the character Zero and Axl provided a bit of levity.... kind of like Cheetor does in Beast Wars.

My favorites are 6,7, and 8 with 8 being the standout game.

But the Zero series is also cool as well as the ZX series.

You earned an Exalt for the mentioning of Zero being on Samuel L Jackson levels of awesome. ZX is regrettably the only series I haven't gotten a hold of to play, but from what I did see of it did look fun. Which come to think of it is odd, I generally got quite a Rockman collection on the GBA - DS.

Given how old the game is now, maybe I should keep an eye out for a likely much reduced in price unit sitting around.

I would. ZX and ZX Advent are pretty decent games. I did not enjoy ZXA as much as ZX but it was still good and I can see how it would appeal to people.

I just miss my X kicking ass.

From what I've seen they stuck to the winning formula that I've been enjoying for a decade. So I fully expect both to be fun to cruise through. As luck would have it, a Gamestop about two miles away has both available, which certainly beats buying it from amazon for 40 bucks. I'll be definitely trying to get a hold of them in August.

At this point I'm missing Rockman in general. After Inafune's departure from Capcom, it's been quite a dark time for the Blue Bomber as Capcom rather than sticking to what was once their flagship character seems more concerned with DLC / New versions of the same games. I honestly don't think we will see much of the Rock in any form, outside the comic, within the next two years and that kinda sucks. That is if we see him at all, given how he should have been in Marvel vs Capcom 3 and all we got was Tron Bonne(which is nice, but given Dash 3 got cancelled seems redundant).

*continues bashing Capcom with negative aura surrounding him, saying if only Inafune, Rock's co-father had the rights, he wouldn't treat him like a cash cow. *(If Inafune cared about only dollar signs, he wouldn't have been pushing Dash 3 for the past 10 years at Capcom.)

......... Very disappointed. It is a little kids comic. I was hoping for a bit more seriousness.

I haven't gotten a chance to check it out, although I think that might fit with the incarnation Rock, or maybe I'm just thinking back to the cartoon a bit much. =P Now if it had been X, that would probably be more appropriate for a darker and much more serious story. Given how X's line of work can get rather graphic and his best buddy chops other bots to pieces.

Yeah it actually reminds me a bit of the cartoon. Which would have been great when I was a kid because I thought that cartoon was so awesome back then. I watched an episode online not too long ago to remember the good old days and finished it thinking I was an idiot as a kid lol. The opening intro is still awesome though.
