Credit: www.totalfilm.com/news/exclusive-producer-lauren-shuler-donner-talks-deadpoolRecent developments would suggest a Deadpool movie is back in business: Ryan Reynolds is willing to fit it into his busy schedule and Tim Miller is attached to direct. Lets see what producer Lauren Shuler Donner has to say about it. “We have a few more things to do. And then it's up to the studio to decide whether we're going to go forward or not,” Donner told Totalfilm.com. Not the answer TF was hoping for. Hang on though, she's not quite done yet: “But I'm pretty excited. We have a good script and a good director.” During a showcase of the Blu-ray features for X-Men: First Class Donner told the assembled press: “When we misstep you're with us and when we do well you cheer us and we're very happy about that.” TF couldn't help but ask if Deadpool was one of those missteps... “Yes he was treated totally wrong in the Wolverine film and yes we will redeem him,” replied Donner.

Nice. Thanks for the update and it's always nice to see them acknowledge how bad Wolverine was.

My pleasure. Saw it today and wanted to pass it along for the Ledger.

Here is another link on Cinema Blend to an interview with Lauren Shuler Donner where she talks even more about the Deadpool film (among other things). Definitely sounds like they are looking to do it right this time where Deadpool is concerned. www.cinemablend.com/new/Interview-Donner-On-R-Rated-Deadpool-And-Delayed-Japanese-Wolverine-26644.htmlExcerpt: CB: I’m also a huge Deadpool fan and I really can’t wait to see what the big screen has in store for the character in a solo film.Donner: "Good! You’re going to love it!" CB: How real is it looking at this point?Donner: "I’ll know by the end of this year. We’re pulling all of the elements together now. I can tell you that the script adheres very closely to the Deadpool world; it’s outrageous and it’s violent and it’s funny. It’s really funny and irreverent and I think we’ve captured his essence." CB: As a two part question, Tim Miller is a young director, and the project would be his first feature film. What did you see of his work that ended up getting him the job and will the Deadpool movie be rated R?Donner: "If we make the movie it needs to be a rated R film. Otherwise you can’t make it. As for Tim, most of the advertisements for the games you play, everybody plays, he does those. He’s just…it would give it a very different look, a very different feel, which would be totally appropriate for Deadpool. Again, I don’t want people to feel like they’ve seen these movies before. Every movie has to have its own identity, and he will bring a whole different visual style to it. Very different visual style. And he’s funny! He fits right into that world. He fits right in. He’s perfect."

I know a lot of people will like that.
Personally, I don't care. You can get away with a hell of a lot with PG-13 now-a-days.

My 8 year old son thinks Deadpool is really cool, but there is NO WAY he'll be seeing an R-rated Deadpool film anytime in the next few years. He'll definitely be disappointed if it goes that way.

I hope they use that script from the Zombieland guys. I read the first thirty pages and it was pretty promising and definitely a hard R, which makes me happy.

That script was a fucking masterpiece. yeah, I had to stop reading because I thought "if this actually becomes the movie, I don't want to have it spoiled for me". If that opening action scene comes to the big screen and I didn't know about it in advance my mind would have probably exploded.

Well, you see it first and see if there are things in it you object to him seeing and then you take him to see it and then put your hands over his eyes when they happen. I have used this strategy with my wife and sexy men without shirts a couple times.

The only two questions I would ever ask her about the Deadpool movie are:
1) How exactly could you lose the rights to Deadpool?
2) Will you be using the leaked script or will it be re-written?
