Guys, this is a comic book forum. How do we not have a conversation going on about your favorite/worst comic book movies of the year, or what we (ckal and I)said?

It's not very motivating to make videos when there's a total lack of response from our community.

Out of all the films you mentioned I'd say I enjoyed Green Hornet the most. I put off seeing it for a while, because Seth Rogen. I like him, but I thought it was going to be incredibly cheesy. And there are so many cheesy comic films out there. But it wasn't. It was actually very fun to watch. I've never read a Green Hornet comic so I can't say if they were close to the characters or not. Making the characters believable for the world they were in I think they achieved really well. The choreography of the fights scenes were effective and good.I also felt the evolution of Britt into the Green Hornet was funny, but not too cheesy. Haven't watched it in a long while so I can't recall a lot of it to say more.

My second favourite would be X-Men: First Class. The best part of the film was the cast. James McAvoy (Mc-Ah-Voy), and Michael Fessbender chemistry is awesome. They bounce of each other like they've been working together for years. I really enjoyed who played their characters last time (Stewart and McKellen) and I was a bit weary if they could match them. Although I knew they can both act after watching them in series they've done in England and films they made after. And they did them justice. Xavier comes across a bit cocky, which I liked. Trying to get girls with his power. Who wouldn't? Fessbender, I think believe when he was on screen, I enjoyed it most. He's got a lot of charisma and that shines through. His portrayal of Magneto was cool. Even though he was working with Xavier, and he was giving him a good influence. You could see through Fessbender, that he was kind of a sinister man. Even without talking. Just facial expressions and body language. Jennifer Lawrence played a good vulnerably Mystique. Not the confident powerful woman she'll become under Magneto. I enjoyed her screen time with Hank as well. The only other stand out character for me was Kevin Bacon. And uses pretty much covered him. I totally agree with what you said. He was awesome! The story was done well. They probably didn't want a lot of the other X-Men character involved, because it's like, "Well, what's new?". So I think they made the most of some of the characters they used. Other went unnoticed. That firefly girl was shit. If that's how she treats her friends, who needs enemies? Should have decapitated her. Some of the roles in the film are just not needed. I understand Dawin's role. To die! And in the process make Shaw look bad arse! Mission accomplished! I agree with, ckal. The way Havoc releases his powers was crap. I thought he did it via his hands? The battle scenes with the X-Men weren't that cool. Enjoyable to a degree. But I enjoyed the Azazel's (if that's his name) teleporting and killing battle scene more. Now saying all that, I've dried my brain up of what I can remember of XMFC.

Thor I felt was a let down. The actor that played Thor was good. But everything else was average. When I saw the trailer and seen the surroundings he was in my mind went straight to Straczynski's Thor tenue. When he was in the desert pretty much. He really felt like a god when I read it. But watch the film he just tried acting like one. He need to have his powers for a long time. And even when he had them, the was more talking than anything. The battle scene was over before they really got going. The chemistry was none existent with Thor and Portman's character. Overall disappointment.

Green Lantenrn was a bigger let down since I have more love for the DCU. The only thing I really like about the film was that Hal had more of a character than he did in the comics. And I dislike Hal in the comics. I agree what you both said about the Green Lantern film. My favourite bit was "If you want anything...there is water in the tap." SO much potential and they waste it.

I think we all definitely enjoyed GH, but I'm surprised you guys liked it THAT much. I guess it's understandable. It's a really fun and enjoyable movie. For me, the highlight of that film was definitely Christoph Waltz.

Yeah, man. McAvoy and Fassbender dominated in X-Men: FC. It was a blast watching those two interact and they definitely had a great dynamic together.

For me, Thor was actually a surprise. I wasn't a fan of the character, so I didn't know what to expect. I was pleased the movie was so comedic and did a good job establishing the primary roles in his universe. Sure, the action sequences were short, but that wasn't a big concern of mine. Like you said, the weak feeling romance was my issue.

Yeah, I remember you saying you were majorly let down with GL. Do you agree with what I said, though, about if anything---it did a good job making us want MORE of Oa/Sinestro?

I think I liked GH because I wasn't expecting anything from it. Waltz was good. I think ever since Inglorious, he's been recognized as a great actor.

Yeah, I'd love to see more of Oa, hell even Qward. They should have used Hector Hammond at least in the second film. I thought they were at first. Then he came up as one of the main villains. I was like, too much in it with little effect. You need to get the audience in with the first film. And Sinestro would have been able to do that. Because why would Sinestro be on Earth 24/7? Then you can explore the GLU.

Whats even stranger. I check the GL film gross about 3 weeks ago and it was like $120 hundred million. Where the fuck has this extra 100 million come from?

Totally agreed, man. Like I said, the movie would have benefited from not having his (ultimately pointless) side plot. If they used that extra time to focus on the most interesting aspect of the movie (you know, the GLC) then it could have potentially been a better movie.

Thankfully, we saw Sinestro put on a yellow ring during the credits...So, here's hoping the (potential) sequel is given the talent/creative team/focus it deserves.

The screenwriters behind this don't even write good comics. Loeb could have done a much better job. Especially Guggenheim, I hate him with a passion. Everything he writes just is awful shit. Constantly killing good characters to get the audience.

They need 2 screenwriters that are good with characters and adventure. Just try and get Peter Jackson. He could do it.
