Chat about the 1982 and 2011 versions here.
And if you're one of the select few who have actually seen the one from the 50s, have at it.

Well, I'll start this party. I consider the Carpenter's 1982 version a masterpiece. It's not scary, but the suspense is so well done and the sfx manage to survive the test of time somewhat well. A must-watch if you even remotely enjoy movies, imho.
As for the 2011 addition (which is basically a prequel to the 1982 effort), it's enjoyable popcorn entertainment. It doesn't even come close to matching the quality behind Carpenter's, but it's a fun horror/action flick. They strive to match the suspense, but that aspect is quickly shoved aside for action/scare tactics. It's worth a view/rental if you're interested, but I honestly doubt I'll buy this unless it's some kind of "The Thing blu-ray pack."

I see my attempt at starting the party was kicked in the face by Morph's post.

The trailer sorted showed whose who, and now I know who'll die.

It was a troll post, so, for all intends and purposes, did make the first post.

The trailer sorted showed whose who, and now I know who'll die. The trailer definitely gave away a few parts. But bravo on the detective work, Wayne

For the 1982 one, did anyone else laugh when Kurt did the totally unnecessary action roll towards the end of the film?

The 50s film was on tv the other night. It seemed like a bunch of old dudes sitting around for 2 hours arguing over what to do.
