(Not sure if this was done already. If so, just post the link, and I apologize.)
What series or story arcs have you read, from any publisher, that you expected to be bad going in but enjoyed when you finished?
For me: -Daredevil: Guardian Devil: I expected this series to be of fairly poor quality because Kevin Smith wrote it, and I never liked his writing very much. Contrary to my preconception, it was actually a very good read. -Infinite Crisis (main miniseries): I had relatively low expectations for this because of Superboy Prime. It was better than I expected though; not amazing but decent enough. -Boba Fett: Death, Lies, and Treachery: I just heard very low reviews about this series. Not the best Boba series out there but certainly not as terrible as I heard.

Definitely the latest volume of Ultimate X-Men. Also, Loeb's Ultimate Thor Reborn series was pretty solid.

Witchblade honestly, the only reason I tried it at first was because I was looking to try something new I'd never read before. Now it's one of my favorites.

Fate (the first series of Jarred Stevens taking on the mantle of Dr Fate /sort of)
I honestly only bought it so I'd be in the know when the concept died and they brought back a normal Dr Fate. I went in expecting to hate it but came to love the character and the role he was meant to play (which he was perfect for).
They managed however to completely kill it when they restarted the concept in the Book of Fate and re-wrote everything they had already established.

I tend not to read something people I trust say is bad.
But I did read something because I wanted to, expecting it to be bad. Which was Thor by J. Michael Straczynski. That was amazing.
