As the fourth installment of the Mission Impossible movie series, 'Ghost Protocol' deals with the Impossible Mission Force being shut down due to being suspect to a bombing at the Kremlin. Protagonish Ethan Hunt, plus 3 buddies, have all been disavowed, and they are the only ones who can stop a nuclear extremist from causing a nuclear war between Russia and the US. PlotAs is expected with movies of this sort, the plot was very involving. Lots of good twists and turns, and (thankfully) difficult to predict. It wasn't an amazing plot (I mean, the whole "stop WW3 from happening" thing has been done), but it was decent enough. ActingNothing to comment on, really. No stellar acting, but nothing sub-par either. The only problem, for me personally, was Tom Cruise. I just have trouble taking that guy seriously sometimes... Visual effectsMuch like the acting. I didn't see anything particularly stellar or awesome, but nothing caught my eye as bad either. ActionSomewhat to my disappointment, MI4 went the route of MI2 in terms of how realistic the action was. There were constant moments that had me thinking, "Heh, that was cool. Completely impossible though. A human being could never actually do that..." Still, I suppose these movies are called Mission Impossible for a reason, right? It's not really supposed to be completely grounded and down-to-earth. If you go into this movie expecting to check your brain at the door, the action sequences will be pretty cool. SummaryThe Good: Entertaining and cool. Lots of guns and explosions and computers and bad guys with bombs and all the other stuff I paid to see. The Bad: 1) A few too many so-impossible-you'll-roll-your-eyes moments. 2) Didn't really bring anything new to the series. There was the whole "IMF is shut down, we're on our own" issue, but the team still seemed rather capable of carrying on missions completely on their own, so it wasn't actually that major of a twist. 6.5-7 out of 10 It's fun to watch. Just don't expect it to be entirely realistic or original.

I see Mighty Lord Zenu's enemies still have too much power.

I just need to know one thing..... Did they write out his wife or kill her off? I did not see her included in the cast on IMDB last time I checked so I am really hoping this is a prequel or something.

If they kill her off, I will shit my pants and then mail it to Tom Cruise. She was so insanely hot.

Okay, I just thought of something that I would hate much more than her death. If she turns out to be a super spy that is actually an agent from the people that are trying to kill him.
.... That will get the movie firmly in the "does not exist" area of my movie opinions.

I loved it. Believeable? No. But that's not why I watch Mission: Impossible. They're called the IMF for a reason. Easily the best M:I Movie and the Burj Khalifa easily my favorite action scene of the year.

The two follow-ups after the first were completely forgettable so that is fitting opinion. I'm hesitant to watch this new one.

Just to stir up some interest the first three M:I movies rated under 65% on Rotten Tomatoes. This one rated over 90%

Agreed. Number 1 was pretty cool. Number 2 was a bit over-the-top cheesy. Number 3 was definitely the best. Number 4, IMO, rates somewhere between numbers 2 and 3. Ruined quote NeXus! For shame.
But saying 4 is somewhere between 2 and 3 does give me some comfort.

My wife, son and I saw this over the weekend. We all really enjoyed it, one of the best from the MI franchise IMO.

Saw this last week. Really, really fun movie. I only have two small complaints: 1) Renner holding Tom Cruise out the window with only one arm. Yeah, the dude is jacked but that when Cruise was already falling? I'm cool with letting the ridiculous take place since it's a movie, but that just made me go "NO WAI." 2) The cheesy moment at the end with his wife. Extremely minor complaint, but it felt a little forced.
