Loki's portal has opened and the Chitauri invasion is on its way. Except the Avengers aren't on the ground this time. Instead, you'll have fun speculating how each of these teams would fare in that scenario. This is a no win scenario. There's an unlimited amount of Chitauri en route and the portal cannot be closed. So which team holds their own the longest and why? Which team falls first? Have fun and elaborate. Don't be useless and just post a team name and leave. That's no fun and you know it.
Rules: -The team is on the ground and sees the portal open. They know a hostile force is coming through, but aside from that, they have no knowledge. -There will be a continuous stream of enemy forces coming through the portal. -Loki is not in the battle nor will any human combat forces. No nuke will be sent, there will be no police, no national guard, etc. However, civilians do remain. -All characters are eliminated by standard rules. -Characters that use firearms have unlimited ammo but must reload. Special ammo such as explosives / trick weapons are limited to a standard amount. -All characters are standard comic versions. -All DC characters have the armor/gear of their new 52 versions and skill feats from their pre-52 years are applicable. -OP is subject to multiple updates for balancing issues as well as adding new teams.
The Teams: 1) Cyclops, X-23, Archangel, Gambit, Colossus (before Juggernaut upgrade), Nightcrawler
2) BuckyCap, Hawkeye, Rulk, Wolverine (bone claw), Spider-Woman, Luke Cage
3) Deathstroke, Deadshot, Batman, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Cyborg (can't use some crazy plot device to shut down opposing army)
4) Deadpool, Taskmaster, Daken, Venom (Flash), Hobgoblin (Phil), Abomination
5) Iron Fist, Black Widow, Scarlet Spider (Kaine), Deathlok, Punisher, Joe Fixit
6) Mr. Fantastic, The Thing, Black Panther (pre-current), Namor, Spider-Man, Daredevil
7) Doctor Octopus (pre-current condition), Rhino, Kraven, Shocker, Mysterio, Green Goblin

Rulk thunderclaps tornadoes out of his way and is likely too durable for the Chitauri to do much to him. I'd say he gives team 2 the best edge out of the entire lot of teams. Although Cyclops keeping those eyes pinned on the portal would also unleash hell for a great amount of time on his own, but I'll stick with team 2.
5, 3, 4, 1 and 2. I see that as the order it heads in. Namor will do a fantastic job, but he will eventually dry out, but given his power output he lasts a great deal of time. Cyclops I see eventually being overwhelmed or tiring, X-23 is limited here to what she can do, so is archangel and gambit. But I'd say they've last 2nd or 3rd longest. Team Four has a ton of healing factor going for them, as well as being armed to the teeth, that alone should keep them running at 3rd. Team 3 is just eventually going to run out of stamina and overwhelmed. Team 5, while physically going to be kept in the running for a bit, I see them going down fastest, due to lack of firepower and devoid of heavy hitters or folks with ridiculous stamina to outlast other teams.

Also, I think team 1 has the best firepower/durability balance.

The team that last's the longest, that's EASY 7) Doctor Octopus (pre-current condition), Rhino, Kraven, Shocker, Mysterio, Green Goblin They're bad guy's who aren't going to car enough to fight and possibly get killed. Instead they'll make a deal to help in exchange for their own little piece of the action. So they will definitely be around a kicking long after the other teams would have fallen.

2,1,4, 3, 5. Team 2 has Rulk and he can do alot of damage Logan and the spiders can also stay around a while while Buck leads. team 1 has a great deal of fire power but they can get exhausted and overwhelmed quite quickly, Team 4 has a number of amoral gents who will not even focus on civilians and just try and kill as many aliens as they can. 3 Has a lot of setup centric people and aquaman is their only real power house. And as much as I love the guys on team 5, IF can't handle a swarm and Panther unless he has his thrice blessed armor and the Ebony blade, or any tech and prep time, he can only really fight till he drops. DD is resilient but he's just a ninja at the end of the day. Kaine will last the longest and the Punisher could be of real help depending on what his arsenal looks like.

Hmm. Teams 1 and 3 are looking pretty solid.
It's tough to give exact reasons why one team would last though. There are just so many variables.

to the adding of Joss Whedon's list of shames. Bro, seriously. Do you try to be a constant raincloud? I honestly can't remember the last time I heard you give any kind of remotely positive review about anything.

The Chitauri in the Movie were being mind controlled by Thanos. When the mothership went down after Tony nuked it, all the Chitauri Soldiers and Leviathans deactivated suggesting that they were being mind controlled.

Yeah, I was kinda wondering about how that was supposed to work out in the movie. Were the Chitauri all so strongly linked to the mothership that they all died after it was blown up? Genocide of an entire species in one hit is a bit dark for a movie like this. But if they weren't linked so strongly that they all instantly died... what did the Avengers do when they all woke up again?

And, since I'm already thinking about plot twists from the movie that confused me a little, how did Thor know Loki was at Stark tower? Stark and Rogers figured it out together in their conversation, but Thor just spent that whole time standing in a field looking at his hammer.
