This book is a direct tie-in to Earth-2 by James Robinson. In that issue we saw Huntress (the daughter of Earth-2's Batman) and Power Girl (Kara Zor-L/Karen Starr/Earth-2 Supergirl) follow an unknown assailant through a interdimensional portal. The end result was the pair ending up on Earth Prime. Arriving roughly five years ago they soon discover it to be vastly different from their own. Upon arrival they see the current Action Comics version of Superboy complete with t-shirt and blue jeans.
The issue flip flops between present day and the pair's history from the last 5 years. We learn they've laid low during that time and adopted false identities with the hope of one day returning to Earth-2. Power Girl has carved out an identity as Karen Starr and amassed a huge corporation in Starr Industries. Huntress has preferred to go the low key route. Establishing herself as Huntress and forming an urban legend of her own ala her deceased father.
We find the ladies in Japan and they're called to a division of Starr Industries. It's suffered a devastating attack and Karen is worried about it's well being. They also name drop Michael Holt aka Mr. Terrific as being in cahoots with them. We also learn the device in question was going to be sued to transport them home. Karen rushes into the facility to find the device but is quickly attacked by a new super villain. Adorning herself in her new costume she and Huntress decide to teach the villain a lesson in manners.
Overall:
This was a pretty good opening issue. I really like how the writer immediately distinguished the personality differences in the two ladies. The art by Perez & Maguire is solid. I'll definitely follow this as I really enjoyed Earth-2 and this looks like it will be a fine counterpart to that comic.
